Grace Megginson Grace Megginson Grace Megginson, a longtime member of the Thomasville City Council, died Tuesday morning after a brief illness. She was, as Mayor Sheldon Day put it, “93 years young.”

She had served continuously on the city council since 1996 and was already planning on running for another term next year.

On the council she was a member of the Thomasville Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Board, Cemetery Board, Original Civic Center Committee and City Personnel Board.

She was retired from the Thomasville Hospital.

Day said, “She was a hometown lady and loved her town and was always willing to serve. True leaders serve with all their heart and never worry about who gets the credit...Ms. Grace Megginson will always be remembered most for the heart she put into every committee she worked on and every project she wanted to see through to completion. May God bless and comfort her family and friends during this time of loss.”
