SWEET WATER - Sweet Water High School Student Government Association elections were held September 24. Marengo County Probate Judge Cindy Neilson brought an OPTECH III-P voting machine for students to use. Judge Neilson supervised the voting process with students. She has volunteered her time to this activity each year since 1998. According to Judge Neilson, using the OPTECH III-P makes it possible to, "Vote everybody in about an hour’s time." After all students have voted, the results are immediately printed out on a tape. Student poll-workers were Tiffany Evans, Kristina Woods, and Wayne Etheridge. K-3 parents, we need your help! We are an Alabama Reading First Initiative school. This means that our students K-3 can not be interrupted between 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. Please be mindful of this when you schedule doctor’s appointments or other such things during this time. Parents who come to school between 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. to check out a child or visit with a teacher disrupt entire classes to check out one child. This is not acceptable to the ARFI grant. ARFI is a federally funded grant and as such has specific requirements that this Reading Initiative time be completely uninterrupted. Please help us by respecting the ARFI guidelines.
