Arts Council to present " A Women Called Truth"
In celebration of Black History Month, the Arts Council of Thomasville presents "A Woman Called Truth". The one-act play tells about the life of former slave Sojourner Truth, a nationally known advocate for equality and justice.
Sojourner Truth prevailed in a courageous court action demanding the return of her youngest son Peter, who had been illegally sold away from her to a slave owner in Alabama.
Come learn about the life of this woman in "A Women Called Truth", Friday and Saturday, Feb. 27 and 28, at the THS Cafetorium.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Advance tickets are available at the Chamber of Commerce Office at 138 Wilson Avenue downtown.
Masonic Conference
The Oliver Lodge 334 will host the Clarke County Masonic Conference Saturday, Feb. 28 at 1 p.m. at the Lodge Hall in Thomasville. Supper will be served and all local Masons are encouraged to attend. Mike Wilson, Worshipful Master.
Dravitan Civic Club sponsors Annual Event
Members of the Dravitan Civic Club will sponsor the annual Black History Program Sunday, Feb. 29, at 3:30 p.m., at the New Greater Baptist Church, Thomasville, where Rev. Carlton Hogue is the Pastor. The speaker will be Mrs. Rose Sanders, Attorney-at-law of Selma. Guest Choirs will be the New Greater First Baptist Choir and the Church of God in Christ Choir. Everyone is invited to come.
Historical Society to Meet in Thomasville
The Clarke County Historical Society will meet Sunday, Feb. 29, at 2:30 p.m. at the Thomasville City Hall. Ann West Davis will present this month’s program. The topic will be the college that began in Thomasville in the early years of the town. It was later moved to Birmingham and became Miles College.
The public is invited to join the group in Thomasville for this month’s meeting.
Family Support Group to hold Meeting
The Family Support Group of 1166 MP Company of Thomasville will have a meeting at the National Guard Armory on March 2 at 7:30 p.m. to discuss plans for a homecoming of the military troops.
Storyhour at Library
The Thomasville Public Library will begin another storyhour March 9 for three-year olds on Tuesday mornings at 10:00 a.m. Library hours are Monday, Wednesday, Friday 9:00 - 5:00. Tuesday, Thursday 9:00 - 7:00. Saturday 9:00 - 1:00.

Today’s Mom
The Packers Bend Volunteer Fire Department will offer a FREE series of Prenatal Nutrition classes March 1 at 12:30 p.m. at the Packers Bend Volunteer Fire Department. The classes are for mom-to-be and moms with babies up to one year of age and fathers of babies can enroll. Breastfeeding information will be made available.
