Quilting volunteers wanted at Thomasville Nursing Home

The Thomasville Nursing Home volunteers are looking for individuals to share their quilting abilities with the residents. For more information call Joann Smyly at 334-636-5614.

Cozy Quilters Club meets every month

The Cozy Quilters Club meets every first and third Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. at the Nutrition Center. There are classes on a variety of crafts, such as needle tatting, silk ribbon, embroidery, frayed edge pillow making and quilting. There are also all day project classes that meet occasionally on Saturdays.

VFW to hold Veterans Day Program

VFW Post 5106 and its Ladies Auxiliary will hold their Veterans Day Program at the National Guard Armory in Thomasville Friday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m.

Everyone is invited to attend. This special event is in memory of all veterans from all wars. The veterans paid the supreme price and those living.

Horse Show is Nov. 12

The Extraordinary Women of Color will sponsor a horse show on Nov. 12 at 2 p.m. at the Thomasville Arena on Old Hwy. 5.

First place stake classes will receive $100 cash award.

Decorate a tree for Thomasville

Thomasville Fantasy of Trees here, with over 100 trees waiting for unique decorations to create a stunning Christmas display throughout the Thomasville trade area, showcasing the talents of individuals, businesses, churches, teams, clubs, organizations and others.

Participants in the Fantasy of Trees Contest will receive identical trees. Each must have lights, skirt and be displayed outside by the night of Saturday, Nov. 26.

Entries will be judged, with cash prizes awarded for the three trees deemed the most original. Participation fee is $30.

To compete, contact the Southwest Alabama Chamber of Commerce at 334-636-6623 by Friday, Nov. 18.

Monroe Senior High School Reunion planned

Alumni of Monroe Senior High School in Lower Peach Tree will have their second school reunion Thanksgiving weekend Friday, Nov. 25 and Saturday, Nov. 26 at the school’s auditorium.

General admission for 19-59 is $20 and children, school age and seniors age 60 and older, $5. Nanafalia Community to hold Brunswick Stew sale

The Nanafalia Community Association will be selling Brunswick Stew at the Old Nanafalia School House in Nanafalia on Saturday, Nov. 19. Stew will be sold by the gallon for $20 and by the quart for $5.

Wilcox Central High School 1996 Reunion

Preparations are being made for the Wilcox Central High School Class of 1996 Reunion to be held June 30 - July 2, 2006. Registration packets will be mailed to each classmate.
