The Fulton City Council approved a resolution supporting funding for the El Camino East-West Corridor Tuesday night.

The route, following Highway 84, is a major East-West route across south Alabama. The funding will widen the two-lane route into a four-lane, reducing accidents and encouraging economic development, supporters say.

Mayor Mike Norris said this submission would not cost Fulton any money and he supported it.

Other business included:

The Downtown Renovation Project is coming along and is expected to be finished by June 20.

Norris encouraged council participation at the Business and Industry Appreciation Reception Thursday night in Jackson at 6 p.m.

Fires reported were one brushfire, one trailer fire and the Fulton Fire Department aided Grove Hill in one fire.

Jennifer Stephens motioned to donate $250 to the Fulton Fire Department to use toward attending a competition in Muscle Shoals June 16. The council will be sending out letters asking others to donate to the competition. The motion was approved.
