The Thomasville Travelers hosted their long time rival the Southland Hogs in a double header here in Thomasville on the final weekend of the 2006 season for both teams. In the twin bill which was played on Saturday, August 5, the Hogs took the first game 7-1 with the second game ending in a 4-4 tie due to a rain storm which halted play midway the sixth inning.

In the loss the Travelers stranded eight base runners on offense and committed three critical errors on defense turning what should have been a close game into a somewhat lopsided defeat.

Jeff Middleton who pitched all seven innings in the game for the Travelers was charged with the loss. In the game he gave up seven runs on six hits, and four walks while striking out six. Only three of the runs charged to him were earned.

At the plate the Travelers also collected six hits but couldn't seem to get them at the right time. Brionne Jones and Judd McWain led the charge for the Travelers with two hits each while Bradley Parnell and Patrick Weaver added one each. Jones had the only extra-base hit with a double and Parnell had the only RBI.

In the second game which ended up knotted at 4-4 Jesse Luker who started on the mound for the Travelers got the no decision pitching a strong six innings in which he allowed four runs on five hits while striking out six. Once again Traveler errors played a big part in the Hogs run production with only two of the runs charged to Luker being earned.

On offense the Travelers had six hits again with Judd McWain and Patrick Weaver leading the attack with two hits each. Joining them with one hit apiece was Will Buford and Tanner Williams. Buford and McWain each had a double for the only extra-base hits. In the RBI category Briggs Bishop, Buford, McWain and Williams all had one.
