TMS Book Club to meet in October

The Thomasville Public Library Middle School Book Club will begin meeting again in October. The book club is for students 5th - 8th grades. It will meet on the first Monday of the month from 3:30 p.m. - 4:30.

Horse Show planned for

Sept. 16

There will be a Horse Show on Saturday, Sept. 16 at the Thomasville Arena on Old Hwy. 5 South. The show starts at 2 p.m., gaited events at 5 p.m. and timed events at 7 p.m.

There will be stick horse barrels, egg race, musical buckets and a cake walk, activities for the entire family. For more information contact Buddy Sanders at 334-636-5797, Linda Oliver 636-0346, Kay Brasell 636-4020 or Michelle Hodge 636-5614. The event is sponsored by the Thomasville Saddle Club.

Also the Horse Show planned for Saturday, Oct. 21 will have a Horsey Costume Contest at 7 p.m. Horse must be in costume. Costume is optional for Rider/Handler. Jackpot pays: Best in Show, funniest and scariest. $5 entry fee.

Scarbrough-Dixon reunion planned for Sept. 16

The Scarbrough-Dixon Family Reunion will be held on Sept. 16.

The family reunion will be held at Ryan's Restaurant on Hwy. 43 in Thomasville at 12 noon. Lunch may be purchased from the restaurant.

SWAIA to meet in Jackson

The Southwest Alabama Improvement Association, known as SWAIA, will hold a public meeting Tuesday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. at Jackson Steak House.

The guest speaker will be Attorney Chris Bailey of McCorquodale & McCorqodale Attorneys at Law.

Clarke County Campaign kick-off is Sept. 19

The 2006 Clarke County Campaign kick-off for the United Way of Southwest Alabama luncheon will be held Tuesday, Sept. 19 from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Grove Hill United Methodist Church.

SAMC to hold Health Fair

Southwest Alabama Medical Center will host a community wide Health Fair Thursday, Sept. 21 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Thomasville Baptist Church.

Fulton VFD to hold gospel singing

The Fulton Volunteer Fire Department will have their annual Fall Gospel Singing on Oct. 7 in downtown Fulton from 4 p.m. until.

Local talent includes: Bridgette Shew-make, Jennifer Henderson, Mark Lynn, Donald Pugh, Warren Harrell, Wayne Campbell, Brandy Beech, Rev. and Scotty, Centurions Quartet, Dixie Disciples, Grateful Heart and Cullomburg Quartet.

Along with the singing there will be a cake auction and door prizes will be given.

In case of rain the singing will be held Oct. 14.

Fulton School Reunion is

Oct. 7

Fulton School Reunion in Fulton is Saturday, Oct. 7 beginning at 10 a.m. with a covered dish lunch. This is for all who attending the old and new school or just lived in Fulton.

Be prepared to stay and hear some gospel singing in downtown Fulton, beginning at 4 p.m. sponsored by the Fulton VFD. Bring your own lawn chairs for the singing.

Arts Council presents annual Ghost Walk

The Arts Council of Thomasville presents the 3rd Annual Kathryn Tucker Windham Ghost Walk on Oct. 28 at Clay Park in downtown Thomasville from 5 until 8:30 p.m.

The cost is $15 per family or $5 per person. Costume contest for the children up to age 12 will be at 6 p.m. Ghost Walk t-shirts and books by Kathryn Tucker Windham will be available.

Hayride tours will depart every 15 minutes.
