CPD makes drug arrest

A weekend driver's license checkpoint in Coffeeville led to the arrest of a Butler man for felony possession of a controlled substance.

Coffeeville Police Officer Steve Carlisle arrested Thomas George Lassiter, 49, after finding several rocks of what appeared to be crack cocaine and a crack pipe in Lassiter's vehicle.

Lassiter was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while license suspended. He was taken to Clarke County Jail and his bond was set at $9,000.

"Officer Carlisle is doing a great job of enforcing drug laws," said Coffeeville Police Chief Clint Harrell.

On Monday, Oct. 9, Chief Harrell received a report of someone attempting to illegally obtain a prescription for Loratab.

It was determined the prescription turned in to Village Pharmacy in Coffeeville was false.

Later that day Brandy Pauline Dunn, 29, of Silas, was captured in Gilbertown, attempting to illegally obtain another prescription for Loratab at the D & L Pharmacy,

Dunn was held by Gilbertown Police Department until a Coffeeville officer arrived to take her into custody.

She was taken to Clarke County Jail.
