Firefighters discovered a man's body after a house fire in the Red Creek area early Sunday morning.

Firefighters from Pine Hill responded to a house fire call shortly after 5 a.m. Sunday in support of other fire departments in the area.

After the flames were extinguished, a man's body was discovered inside the house.

The case was turned over to investigators with the state fire marshall's office.

Fire and police department officials have not been allowed to release any more details about the incident to date.

This is the second suspicious death in a fire call in the past two weeks for the area.

Two Dixons Mills men were arrested on capital murder charges for the burning death of Bobby Hayes last week.

Marengo County Sheriff Jesse Langley said a vehicle fire was reported to the rescue squad Thursday evening, Sept. 28 on Brown Hawk Road.

When emergency responders arrived, they found the SUV, and a body in the passenger seat, burned.

The body was sent to the forensic lab and Hayes' death was ruled a homicide.

Quinton Young, 26 and Tonny Bouler, 30, both of Dixons Mills have been charged with Hayes' murder.

Sheriff Langley said he believed robbery was their motive for killing Hayes, who was a dump truck driver and served as a pianist for several churches in the area.

Hayes had a Crimson Drive, Thomasville address, but Langley said he actually lived in the Surginer/Vineland area of South Marengo County.
