Auxiliary welcomes new members

SWAMC Auxiliary is proud to announce that Jimmy R. O'Bryant has joined the auxiliary. Mr. O'Bryant is the third male member to serve, in the history of Thomasville's Auxiliary dating back to the 1960's, on the auxiliary. (Dr. Nicholas Glaskowsky being the first male to join auxiliary in January, 2006 and Dr. James Best joining the auxiliary in September, 2006.) Linda Privett states that the auxiliary is thrilled to have these fine gentlemen and ladies serving our hospital and nursing home

Jimmy O'Bryant was born in Pickens County, Alabama and reared in Tuscaloosa. He attended West End Elementary School and Tuscaloosa Sr. High School. After graduation he enlisted in the US Army, serving in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. After attending college, completing additional studies, serving an internship in Mortuary Science, he moved to Thomasville in 1970.

Mr. O'Bryant purchased the Holiman Mortuary in Thomasville in 1972, changing the name of the business to O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home. He opened a funeral home in Linden in 1966 and changed the name of the business to O'Bryant Funeral Homes Co., Inc. d/b/a O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Homes. Mr. O'Bryant entered the Ministry of the United Methodist Church in 1983, serving appointments in Choctaw, Clarke, Escambia, Monroe, and Marengo Counties. He retired from the funeral industry on November 30, 2003, and from the Ministry on May 30, 2006.

SWAMC Auxiliary has meetings on the first Tuesday of every month at the Hill House at 10 a.m.
