Gulf Zone Workshop is Friday There will be a Gulf Opportunity Zone Workshop on Oct. 13 at the University of West Alabama in Livingston. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the workshop will be from 9 a.m. until 12 noon. The meeting is for "Attracting Private Capital". CAAST plans next meeting The next meeting of the Citizens Against Alcohol Sales in Thomasville (C.A.A.S.T.) will be held on Monday, Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. at First Assembly of God, Hwy. 43 S across from Alabama Southern in Thomasville. All interested citizens are encouraged to attend.
Horse Show holds Horsey Costume Contest There will be a Horse Show Saturday, Oct. 21 and there will be a Horsey Costume Contest at 7 p.m. Horse must be in costume. Costume is optional for Rider/Handler. Jackpot pays: Best in Show, funniest and scariest. $5 entry fee.
Coffeevile High School "Ole Timers" Reunion set All former students, teachers, and friends of Coffeeville High School are invited to attend an "Ole Timers" Reunion to be held at the School on Saturday, Oct. 21. Registration begins at 9 a.m. A covered dish luncheon is planned and everyone is encouraged to attend and bring your favorite dish. The graduating class of 1956 will be honored at this time. Attending will be former students from a wide range of classes and this is a great opportunity to see old friends. Ghost Walk to be held downtown Oct. 28 The Arts Council of Thomasville will present the 3rd annual Kathryn Tucker Windham "Ghost Walk" to be held Saturday, Oct. 28 beginning at 5 p.m. at Clay Park in downtown Thomasville. Enjoy a hayride to historic homes while listening to music, singing and tales of Thomasville's past. Storytellers in period costume will tell tales from the "13 Alabama Ghosts" series. Thomasville native Kathryn Tucker Windham will also be on hand to tell a few tales of her own. There will also be Ghost Walk T-shirts and books by Mrs. Windham available for purchase, a children's costume contest beginning at 6 p.m., and the Dixie River Band will entertain at Clay Park. A children's entertainment area, sponsored by the THS Drama Club, will feature space jumps, slides and more. Armbands for this special area will be $5. Price per family is $15 and individual tickets prices are $5.
Lions Club collects old eyeglasses Trick or Treat! Treat someone to sight! Donate your old eyeglasses to the Lions Club for recycling! The Thomasville Lions Club will be collecting eyeglasses at the Ghostwalk downtown on Oct. 28 from 5 until 8 p.m. Collect all the old eyeglasses from your neighbors and friends and bring them down to the collection table in the park!
