Obituaries Warren Neal Bennett Warren Neal Bennett, 48, of Thomasville died Friday, October 13, 2006 at Providence Hospital in Mobile. Graveside services were held at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery on Monday, October 16 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Billy Cardwell, Rev. Bill Faircloth and Rev. Mark Lambert officiating. Survivors include his wife, Debbie Bennett of Thomasville; one daughter, Rhonda Flowers of Fulton; two sons, Keith Bennett and Marc Bennett, both of Fulton; mother, Shirley Ann Epperson of Marion; two brothers, Eddie Bennett of Dickinson and Mike Bennett of Marion; grandmothers, Naomi Madison of Marion and Azalea Bennett of Thomasville; and two grandchildren. Pallbearers were Tommy Walker, Kyle Patton, Perry McKinley, Terry McKinley, Randy Garrick and Dean Garrick. Funeral arrangements were directed by O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville.
Susie Pruitt Davis Susie Pruitt Davis, 94, of Thomasville died October 9, 2006 at the Thomasville Nursing Facility. Funeral services were held Saturday, October 14 at 12 noon at Williams Temple C.M.E. Church with Rev. Tommie L. Jackson officiating. Interment followed in the Miles Chapel/Williams Temple Cemetery in Thomasville. Mrs. Davis was a retired homemaker and a member of Williams Temple C.M.E. Church Survivors include one daughter, Shelly (Leslie) Jackson; one son, Archie (Evelyn) Pruitt; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements were directed by Thomasville Memorial Funeral Home in Thomasville.
Minnie Lucille Eames Minnie Lucille Eames, 91, of Grove Hill died Friday, October 13, 2006 at her home. Funeral services were held at O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home on Monday, October 16 at 11 a.m. with Rev. David Guy and Rev. Ronnie Giles officiating. Interment followed in the Henley Cemetery in Fulton. Survivors include one daughter, Ida Baker of Grove Hill; one son, Terry Leevon Stephens of Toxey; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Buck Loftis, Harold Smith, Virgil Goodman, Bruce Phillips, Perry Callaway and Elga Goodman. Honorary pallbearer was Eudell Dungan. Catherine Thornton Rice Catherine Thornton Rice, 61, a native of Nicholsville died Wednesday, October 4, 2006. Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 10 at the Independent Baptist Church in Sweet Water with Rev. Dr. S. L. Hives officiating. Interment followed in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Nicholsville. Mrs. Rice was a member of the Independent Baptist Church where she served as President of the Deaconess Ministry. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Emma Pedway and Fannie Johnson; and two brothers, Charlie Thornton and Grover Thornton. Survivors include her husband, Deacon Robert Rice; two daughters, Deborah D. Brown of Hephzibali, Ga. and Kimberly Rice of Sweet Water; two sons, Gary (Sheddret) Rice of Fulton and Kenneth (Yolanda) Rice of Thomasville; two sisters, Daisy Thornton of Nicholsville and Lillie Thornton of Millry; one brother, Willie Fate (Louise) Thornton of Millry; one sister-in-law, Mary Rice of Thomasville; three grandchildren and three step-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were her nephews. Flowerbearers were her nieces. Funeral arrangements were directed by Mosley Funeral Home in Thomasville.
Rick M. Rikard, Jr. Captain Rick M. Rikard, Jr., 53, a resident of Suffolk, Va., formerly of Montgomery, died September 25, 2006. Memorial services were held at the David Adams Memorial Chapel in Norfolk, Va. on September 29, with ashes to be spread at sea at a future date. Captain Rikard is preceded in death by his father Ralph M. Rikard of Pine Hill and a son, Adam Christopher Rikard. Survivors include his wife, Dr. Lee Ann Rikard; one daughter, Erin Leigh (Rey); one son Kyle Miller Rikard; mother Ruth S. Resmondo of Prattville; grandmother Katherine M. Ondrik of Bloomer, Wis.; two sisters, Randi Leigh (Pat) Coleman of Tuscaloosa and Rosanna (James) Duke of Prattville; and one granddaughter, Kelly Nicole Rikard. Mr. Rikard earned a Masters Degree in Analysis & Statistics from the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, Calif. He completed major deployments to Northern Europe, the Indian Ocean, Mediterranean Sea, Arabian Gulf, and participated in Operation Desert Storm, Operation Able Vigil & Able Manner, & Operation Enduring Freedom. Captain Rikard received numerous military decorations and citations. His last assignment was Chief of Staff to Commander, Strike Force Training Atlantic from which he retired in 2005 with 30 years of naval service. He was a consultant with the EDO Corporation until his untimely death.
Evie Mae Smith Evie Mae Smith, 86, of Chickasaw died Monday, October 9, 2006 at Mobile Infirmary in Mobile. Funeral services were held at O'Bryant Chapel Funeral in Thomasville on Saturday, October 14 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Michael R. Bedford officiating. Interment followed in the Midway Baptist Church Cemetery in Thomasville. She was a homemaker and was a faithful member of College Park Baptist Church and a member of BYKOTA Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by one brother, Walter Gray Smith. Survivors include one sister, Sudie (Oliver) O'Neal of Mobile; one sister-in-law, Mary E. Smith of Pensacola, Fla.; one nephew; four nieces; five great-nieces; three great-nephews; and two great-great nieces. Pallbearers were Paul Sanders, Gaines Smith, Gray Smith, Lloyd Gaddy and Monroe Smith. Honorary pallbearers were members of BYKOTA Sunday School Class of College Park Baptist Church. Funeral arrangements were directed by O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville.
