Dalgety, McGuffin wed August 5
The bride is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Peter G. Dalgety of Dixon's Mills. She is the granddaughter of Mr. & Mrs. E.G. Henderson of Dixon's Mills and the late Mr. & Mrs. George F. Dalgety of Walpole, Massachusetts. The groom is the son of Commander and Mrs. Fred A. McGuffin of Monterey, California. He is the grandson of Mr. & Mrs. Merlin C. Williamson of Prattville, Mr. Fred J. McGuffin of Ozark, and the late Mrs. Marguerite McGuffin. The ceremony was performed in the church sanctuary which was decorated with candelabras holding tall burning tapers, English ivy, tulle bows and green peace lilies. The bride was given in marriage by her father, Peter Dalgety, assisted by Mark Dalgety, brother of the bride. The bride was radiant in a Cinderella princess style gown with lace sleeves and hand sewn beads, pearls and sequins covering the bodice and around the hem and train of the A line gown. A tiara of rhinestones and pearls was attached to her veil, which also matched her bodice and complimented the diamond necklace she wore around her neck, a gift from the groom. The bride carried a bouquet of vibrant red roses. Attending the bride as maid of honor was her sister, Jennifer Dalgety of Mobile. Matron of Honor was Amber Hasty Watson of Prattville. Other attendants of the bride were Kristen McGuffin, sister of the groom, of Fort Myers, Fla., Michelle Pruitt Glass of Thomasville, Mandy Hamrack of Mobile, and Katrina Tennyson of Nashville, Tenn. The bride's attendants wore apple red formal gowns and carried long stemmed Virginia Roses with greenery and white satin bows. Commander Fred McGuffin served his son as best man. Other groomsmen were: Scott and John Dalgety, brothers of the bride, Jordan Rowden of Mobile, Sgt. Joe Fabrie and Airman Bryce Moseley of Kadena Air Force Base, Okinawa, Japan. Military uniforms were worn by the groom, best man, Sgt. Fabrie and Airman Moseley. The other groomsmen wore black tuxedos with white shirts and apple red vests and ties. Preparing the way for the bride's entrance with rose petals on the white aisle runner were flower girls Hanna and Emma Kate Dalgety of Mobile, nieces of the bride. Ushers were Mark Dalgety, of Columbus, GA and Matthew McCawley, cousin of the bride, from Atlanta, GA. Greeters were Kennith Godwin and Dave Baker of Mobile. Mrs. Janean Henderson McCawley of Mobile, aunt of the bride, was the pianist and accompanied her daughter, Anna McCawley, soloist, and Paul Glass of Thomasville, vocalist. Miss McCawley sang "How Beautiful" after the grandmothers and mothers were seated and "I'll Be Here" during the lighting of the Unity Candle. She and Mr. Glass sang a duet, "How Great Thou Art" during the communion service, joined by the congregation of wedding guests in the chorus afterwards. Nicole Carpenter of Dixon's Mills directed the wedding. The bride's mother chose a formal length gown of black, white and metallic silver with a matching jacket. The groom's mother wore a formal length sky blue gown with a matching jacket. Both mothers were escorted into the sanctuary by the groom, who led them to light the appropriate side candle of the unity candle before seating them. Immediately following the wedding ceremony a reception was held in the church fellowship hall given by the ladies of Central Baptist Church, coordinated by Mrs. Deborah Reed and Mrs. Cheryl Morgan. Servers were: Mrs. Lois Morgan, Mrs. Robin Edmonds, Mrs. Betty Wilkinson, Mrs. Gail Goodman, Rebecca and Rachel Reed and Miss Jessica Pruitt of Thomasville. Miss Rebecca Ward of Mobile served as a hostess and registered the guests at the reception. The couple spent a few days in Birmingham before leaving for their honeymoon and new home in Okinawa, Japan where Senior Airman McGuffin is stationed as a journalistic/combat photographer at Kadena Air Force Base.
