The Thomasville Tigers proved Friday night after defeating the Escambia County Blue-Devils that they were still a strong team. The Tigers shut out the Blue Devils with a score of 37-0. After the game against T.R. Miller, the Tigers knew they must work extremely hard to reach the top once more. Fortunately, they were able to reassure their fans Friday night that they were willing to keep their heads up and play as a team. Great job, Tigers! This past Friday was also Homecoming. Throughout the week the students at THS did an outstanding job of showing their school spirit by dressing out. For every day there was a different theme. Congratulations goes out to Miss Shaneka Nicholson for being crowned THS Homecoming Queen 2006. The queen and her court were treated to a tea held in the library before the game. A big thanks goes out to all the teachers, students, and parents who were a part of this event. For the next few weeks, the Tigers will be on the road. This week, the football team will travel to Southside-Selma. Good Luck Tigers! Students do not forget that prom dues can be paid ahead of time for $40. See Mrs. Dumas in the lobby. It is best to pay these dues now, because before long, the price will go up! Students and parents, report cards will go out today, October 19, 2006. Be sure to sign these and have them returned to homeroom teachers. Any senior girls who are interested in participating in the Clarke-Washington Fair Queen Pageant should pick up forms located in the office. Juniors, a Balfour representative will be visiting the school at 8:00 a.m. on November 8, 2006, to take ring orders. Payments for class rings are due on this day. Anyone interested in traveling to Greece during Spring Break should see Dr. Merida before November 1st. Congratulations to the THS Lady Tiger Volleyball team for being named Season Champs. The J.L. Bedsole Scholarship deadline for seniors is November 30, 2006. The qualifications for the scholarship are a 2.5 GPA and at least a 21 ACT score. Just a reminder: The ACT test will be administered on October 28, 2006. Students who have registered to take the ACT should be well rested and prepared. Good Luck Students! Seniors should be aware that as of October 16, 2006, all College Days must be approved prior to taking these days. Also, any senior who is interested in a degree in education can apply for the AAFEPA scholarship. Students applying for this scholarship must have a 3.0 GPA. The last day to apply is October 25, 2006. Don't forget, fans, to come out and support the Tigers this week as they take on Southside-Selma. Go Tigers! Until next time, I am Hannah Etheridge. Have a great week!
