THS trombones carry tenor voice
Sarah Ashley Sparks

Greetings from the Thomasville Band Room!

This week, the featured section of the band is the trombone section.

There are three trombones in the marching band this year, led by Section Leader John Thornton. John, a junior, is serving his first year as a section leader on the Student Leadership Team. John has stepped up this year and shown a lot of leadership for the group.

The trombone is a brass instrument whose voice is located in the tenor range. Trombones are recognized as having a large bell with a long slide, and this is the only instrument that is performed using a slide.

Different pitches can be play by blowing into the mouthpiece and moving the slide into its seven different positions.

We would like to congratulate the THS Varsity Football Team on their win Friday night over Southside Selma.

This Friday night, the football team will play against Monroe County at Monroe County High School. We are also looking forward to supporting our Tigers as they enter into the play-offs in a few weeks.

Please come out this Friday night and support our Thomasville Tigers.

GO TIGERS!!!
