Lions Club collects old eyeglasses Trick or Treat! Treat someone to sight! Donate your old eyeglasses to the Lions Club for recycling! The Thomasville Lions Club will be collecting eyeglasses at the Ghostwalk downtown on Oct. 28 from 5 until 8 p.m. Collect all the old eyeglasses from your neighbors and friends and bring them down to the collection table in the park!
SVFD to hold Gospel Singing The Surginer Volunteer Fire Department will host a Fall Singing on Oct. 28 from 4 p.m. until. Featured singers will be South Rock and Marshall Law from T-town; Rosa Grayson, Tiny Drinkard, The Revelators, Mallory Broadus from Thomasville, local talent and many others. Bring your lawn chairs. Admission is $5 for 12 years of age and over and children under 12 is free. BBQ and chicken tender plates will be for sale. They will include either BBQ or chicken, potato salad, baked beans, bread, cake and tea for only $7 (tea refills .50¢). You can also buy BBQ by the pound for $7. Soft drinks and bottled water will be $1. Coffee will be .50¢. Cakes will be auctioned off for this holiday weekend. Something for the children: Get ready........get set....."Stuff A Friend." Everyone is invited to attend and support the SVFD.
McKinley Reunion is Oct. 28 The descendents of James Monroe McKinley will be meeting at the Liberty Baptist Church Fellowship Hall on Saturday, Oct. 28. Arrive early and bring a covered dish.
Clarke County Historical Society to meet The Clarke County Historical Society will meet Sunday, Oct. 29 at 2:30 p.m. at the Champion House in Thomasville. The Champion House, located at the corner of West Front Street and Alabama Ave. across the street from First United Security Bank, was built in 1916 and was restored in recent years. Those attending the meeting will also be able to tour the ALA-Tom R, D & D office. It is located in the restored 1901 building originally constructed for the Farmer's Bank and Trust. Both of these buildings are located in the renovated downtown area of Thomasville. The public is invited to attend.
VFW Post 5106 meeting is Oct. 30 The VFW Post 5106 and its Ladies Auxiliary will have their regular monthly meeting Monday, Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. All members are urged to attend.
ASCC to hold Fall Festival Oct. 31 There will be a Fall Festival at Alabama Southern Community College from 5 until 7 p.m. Admission is one canned good. Ages up to 12 years old. There will be a Haunted Hayride from 7 until 9 p.m. Admission is $2 per person. Everyone is invited.
Pine Hill VFD hold annual BBQ sale The Pine Hill Volunteer Fire Department will be holding their annual BBQ sale on Nov. 3. The sale will start at approximately 7 p.m. at the Pine Hill City Hall. All sales and donations will go to support the fire department. If you have any questions contact one of your local firefighters.

South Marengo County Fire and Rescue Squad holds fish fry The South Marengo County Fire and Rescue Squad will hold a Fish Fry on Nov. 4 from around 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Hwy. 10, mile marker 36, house number 34818. Complete fish plate is $7 with dessert. Local deliveries will be available.
