Chamber sets goals for 2006

Southwest Alabama Chamber of Commerce chairman Danny D'Andrea spoke this week of the chamber's goals for the next year.

"One of the things I really believe in is visiting out business members and getting feedback from them," D'Andrea said.

That process has already started with interim director Marilyn Morgan. "We've been hearing some positive things," D'Andrea said.

In addition to meeting with its business members, the chamber's goals for the next year include holding a second round of round table discussions with the various segments of Thomasville's business community, including the downtown businesses, Hwy. 43 businesses and others.

Building the chamber's volunteer base will be a priority next year as will improving communication to members through quarterly updates and building an email list of members.

The chamber also plans to pursue grant opportunities and continue adding new members.

"I've been involved with chambers since the 1970s and I I've never seen so many people knocking on the chamber's door as they do here," he said. "We're going to focus on our core members and then branch out, we want to continue being a regional chamber."
