For the special occasion, they are honoring American's finest young musicians and selecting four students from each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia to march in this year's parade under the direction of Dr. Jon Woods, Ohio State University and Dr. Richard Good, Auburn University. 204 musicians and dancers will march into the parade history as the first ever "Macy's Great American Marching Band".
During the students say in New York City, they will enjoy visits to some of the most famous and popular attractions like Rockefeller Center, attend leadership workshops with famed speaker Scott Lang, and celebrate Thanksgiving on a Hudson River dinner cruise.
Best of all, they will lead the 80th Annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade down Broadway in front of over 2.5 million spectators along the parade route and 50 million worldwide viewers.
Caldwell is the grandson of Jimmy and Mary Gunn of Thomasville.
