Spiritual Reflections
I'm too old to get up at 4:30 to be at the airport by 6:30 to get on a plane at 9:30 that was supposed to take off at 8:00. I'm too old to be told that my plane has mechanical problems. I wanted them to get me a new one, but they were not too happy with my request. I'm too old to go chasing around the country through airports where you get treated like a suspected terrorist if your gel deodorant is half an ounce too big, or you messed up, and put your toilet articles in a gallon zip-lock bag instead of a quart one. If I'm lying, I'm dying, Peggy made that mistake and they pulled her bags out, and went through them like she was Osama Ben Somebody. I thought for a while they were going to strip search her, but even they realized it was not wise to mess with a grandmother who had not had her quota of coffee. They satisfied themselves with throwing her hand cream away, and turned her loose. I'm too old to get to Charlotte, NC and be told that our connecting flight had left us because our plane had been delayed. I'm too old to be told to take a seat at 11:00 a.m. and maybe someone would let me know if a seat opened up on the 4:30 p.m. flight. I'm too old to be rerouted to Richmond when my luggage is sent on to Norfolk. Yes I'm too old for all of that, but I'm not too old for what God has called me to do. Joshua 14 tells about an 85-year old named Caleb who was called to take a country for God. He said, "I'm 85 today, I'm still as strong as I was in the day Moses sent me, as my strength was then, so my strength is now, for war and for going out and coming in. Now give me this hill." God has called us to Ghana, and that means we aren't too old. See you in church.
