Obituaries

Clifton Adam Autery

Clifton Adam Autery, 82, of Pine Hill died Monday, Oct. 30, 2006 at his home. Graveside services were held at Enon Cemetery in Pine Hill on Wednesday, Nov. 1 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Lister Hill officiating.

Mr. Autery was a retired millwright and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Pine Hill.

Survivors include three daughters, Gwendolyn Autery of Corvallis, Ore., Cynthia Barr of Pine Hill and Shirley Rolison of Mobile; three sons, Winfred Autery of Georgia, Clifton Autery of Mobile and Michael Autery of Pine Hill; one sister, Eulean Potts of Pine Hill; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were directed by O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville.

Louella Patrick Carstarphen

Louella Patrick Carstarphen, 93, of Lower Peach Tree died October 25, 2006 in Thomasville. Funeral services were held Nov. 4 at 1 p.m. at All Saints Holiness Church of Lower Peach Tree with Overseer Raymond McConnell officiating. Interment followed in the Mount Sinai A.M.E. Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Carstarphen was a homemaker and was a member of Pugh Success Chapter No. 838 Order of Eastern Stars.

Survivors include seven sons, Bobby Earl Carstarphen of Mobile; John Henry Carstarphen, Leroy Carstarphen, Freddie Lee Carstarphen and James Charles Carstarphen, all of Lower Peach Tree, Earnest Carstarphen and Percy Carstarphen, both of Cleveland, Ohio; six daughters, Annie J. Rodgers of Cleveland, Ohio, Virginia Portis, Lillie Williams and Minnie Pearl Carstarphen, all of Lower Peach Tree, Eliza Hammonds of Auroro, Colo. and Ola Williams of Prichard; one step-son, Wilson Carstarphen of Jackson; one brother, Erby Lee Patrick of Mobile; 78 grandchildren; 171 great-grandchildren; and sixty great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were her grandsons.

Funeral arrangements were directed by Reese Funeral Home in Thomasville.

Cecil Wayne Gilchrist

Cecil Wayne Gilchrist, 51, of Grove Hill died November 1, 2006 in a Mobile hospital. Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 3 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Lathan Funeral Home in Grove Hill with Rev. Al Crawford officiating. Interment followed in the Magnolia Cemetery in Grove Hill.

Mr. Gilchrist was retired from the Clarke County Engineer's Office Road and Bridge Department, where he worked for 27 years. He was a member of the Magnolia Assembly of God Church in Grove Hill.

Survivors include his mother, Ruth (James) Pugh of Thomasville; four brothers, James (Wilda) Gilchrist of Alma, Gary (Beverly) Gilchrist of Panama City, Fla., Phil (Dorothy) Gilchrist of Jackson and Stevie (Betty) Gilchrist of Grove Hill; one sister, Jackie (Ray) Williams of Lower Peach Tree; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Tony Gilchrist, Grady Wilkerson, Wrangler Williams, Chase Williams, Phillip Gilchrist, Stan Gilchrist and Jimmy Wayne Wiggins.

Honorary pallbearers were Employees of Clarke County Road and Bridge Dept., Jimmy James, Terry Burroughs, Mervine Pugh, Doug Parnell, Jr., Earl Wilson, Ricky Burroughs, David Carl Wright, Jimmy Fuller, Herbert Burroughs and Daryl Harvey.

Funeral arrangements were directed by Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson.

DeJournette Charlton Wilkinson, III

DeJournette Charlton Wilkinson, III, 58, of Lamison died Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at his home. Funeral services were held at O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville on Friday, Nov. 3 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Leon Harris officiating. Interment followed in Choctaw Corner Cemetery in Thomasville.

Survivors include two brothers, Ray Boozer Wilkinson of Lamison and Everett (Pete) Wilkinson of Providence; one nephew, Ryan Wilkinson; and one niece, Beth Samford.

Pallbearers were John Brunson, Joe McGilberry, Tommy Anthony, Reagan Daniels, Don Lane and Bruce Flowers.

Honorary pallbearers were Roy Maness, Al Moseley, Nelson Parker, Brandon Stephens, Leonard Moseley, Julius Hope and Johnny Reed.

Funeral arrangements were directed by O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville.
