Spiritual Reflections
Everything is in place for a small college campus, except of course, a football stadium. It is a quiet place, away from the hustle and bustle of life. It's a place where we can be still, and know that He is God. It's a place where we can hear the still small voice that many can't seem to hear, for the clamor around them. It's a place where decisions can be made without interference from external sources. It's a place where we hear firsthand about what to expect, from God's wonderful people who have been where we are going. Around us, we see people of all descriptions, from all ages, and many ethnic backgrounds. We are moved by the excitement we see on the faces of young singles, fresh from college who have committed the next 2 years of their lives to the journeyman program. We are moved by the faith exhibited by couples, many with young children, who have chosen to give their lives as career missionaries. We wonder at the sacrifice of those entering the International Service Corps. And yes we are certainly moved by the seniors, joining us in the Master's program, so appreciative of the chance, to serve God in a way they thought impossible. It's a beautiful place, and it is also a fragrant place. When we walked across the campus the first time this fall, we detected a faintly sweet, but distinct aroma. We could not discern its source. We half jokingly said, that it came from the air vented from the dryers in the laundry rooms, where scented dryer sheets were being used. "Not so," we were told, "the aroma comes from tiny flowers on the shrubbery that grows through out the facility." Maybe it is really the sweet aroma of lives submitted and obedient, rising up to God. Pray, asking not what God will do for you, but what you can do for Him. See you in church.
