F. S. Ervin hosted Parenting Day F.S. Ervin Elementary School kicked off into high gear the county wide annual Parenting Day celebration on Oct. 26. Parents, families, community leaders all joined our teachers, administrators, and others for a "Children Are the Future - Share the Vision" event. This statewide celebration was planned just for parents and the community and gave them an opportunity to see what our children are learning. The program started at 9:30 a.m. with Mr. Percy L. Hale, Principal of Wilcox County Alternative School in Camden as the guest speaker. Mr. Hale addressed the Importance of Parental Involvement. Other program participants were: students, Japria Rodgers, Jamarius Autry, F. S. Ervin Starletts, Mr. Mark Dukes, and Mrs. Latisha Eldridge, Assistant Principal. Mini workshops for parents were held in the Parenting Center. Presenters were Mrs. E. Busbee & Mrs. M. Thompson (DIBELS), Mrs, R. Jackson, (SACS Accrediation), Ms. K. Linton (Reading Skills), Mrs. L. Arnold (Health/Nutrition), Ms. D. Robinson (Test Taking Skills), Mrs. D. Turk (How Parents Involvement Impact Academic Achievement), Mrs. C. Briggins (Pride Survey), Coach M. Dukes (Peer Mediation/PE), Ms. H. Knight (Computer Technology). Parents were invited to share hands-on experiences in the computer lab for a 30 minute session. The Principal, staff and students of F.S. Ervin Elementary School would like to take this opportunity to express their sincere thanks for your support and help to make this a successful and productive day for our parents.
