Obituaries Christopher Kevin Gates Christopher Kevin Gates, 41, of New Orleans, La. died Oct. 31, 2006 at his residence. A memorial service will be Sunday, Nov. 19 at 2 p.m. with Rev. William Allison officiating at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church located on the Walker Springs Road. He was born Sept. 22, 1965 in Mobile and lived in Saraland for 20 years. He worked in the French Quarter of Bywater and Marigny for 18 years. Survivors include his parents, William Jenkins and Orinell (Tucker) Gates of Jackson; two brothers, Marcus Brent Gates of Butler and Derek Gates of Jackson. Funeral arrangements were directed by Lamana-Panno-Fallo Funeral Home of Metairie, La.
Janie Alma Coats Gates Janie Alma Coats Gates, 88, of Thomasville died Saturday, November 4, 2006 in Meridian, Miss. Funeral services were held at Liberty Baptist Church on Tuesday, Nov. 7 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Larry Darden officiating. Interment followed in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Thomasville. Mrs. Gates was a homemaker and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence P. Gates; grandson, Eric Walker; great-grandson, Jamie Tolbert; and two sisters, Essie Reid and Vera Guy. Survivors include three daughters, Mary (Buck) Williams of Greer, S. C., Carolyn (Johnny) Walker of Dixons Mills and Faye (Donnie) Stamey of Saraland; one brother, John D. Coats of Thomasville; one sister, Delormie Wilson of Thomasville; five granddaughters, Kim Green of Selma, Pam Lynn of Thomasville, Deneene Tootle of Perkinston, Miss., Alicia Reeves of Saraland and Dee Johnston of Pensacola, Fla., two grandsons, Lonnie Williams of Lucedale, Miss. and Michael Williams of London, Ark.; 11 great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Jerry Green, Randall Green, Chris Williams, Anthony Lynn, Corry Tootle and John Johnston. Funeral arrangements were directed by O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville.
Wanda Register Holley Wanda Register Holley, 82, of Linden died Thursday, November 2, 2006 at Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital in Demopolis. Funeral services were held at Linden Baptist Church on Sunday, Nov. 5 at 3 p.m. with Dr. Jerry Gunnells officiating. Interment followed at Linden Memorial Park in Linden. Mrs. Holley was a former high school librarian and was a member of Linden Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, David P. Holley of Linden; four sons, James D. Holley and Wayne P. Holley, both of Monroeville, Edwin L. Holley of Clayton and Keith A. Holley of Demopolis; one sister, Zenobia Overman of Lake City, Fla.; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Linden Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 480776, Linden, AL 36748. Pallbearers were Jeffrey Holley, Jason Holley, P. J. Holley, Derek Holley, David Holley, Austin Holley and Logan Holley. Funeral arrangements were directed by O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Linden.
Vivian A. Johnson Vivian A. Johnson, 70, of Arlington died Friday, November 10, 2006 at Southwest Alabama Medical Center in Thomasville. Funeral services were held at O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home on Sunday, Nov. 12 at 2 p.m. Survivors include her husband, Ronnie Leon Johnson of Arlington; two sons, William Gary Moss of Grand Bay and Randall LaDon Moss of Pascagoula, Miss.; four brothers, Steven L. Green of Thomasville, Lamar Green of Plantersville, Don Green of Butler and Ronald Green of Arlington; one sister, Betty G. Maness of Arlington; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Ouida Joan McGilberry Ouida Joan McGilberry, 48, of Birmingham died Friday, November 10, 2006 at her home. Graveside services were held at Pine Hill Cemetery on Tuesday, Nov. 14 at 2 p.m. Ms. McGilberry was born in Arlington and was a former construction worker. She was preceded in death by one sister, Relivia Myrick. Survivors include two sisters, Alice Autery and Tina Counselman, both of Thomasville; one brother, Robbie McGilberry of Arlington; nine nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Corey Autery, Morgan Autery, Todd McGilberry, Adam McGilberry, Blake McGilberry and Brent Myrick. Funeral arrangements were directed by O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville.
Emma Bradis Richardson Emma Bradis Richardson, 80, of Linden died Sunday, November 5, 2006 at Marengo Nursing Home in Linden. Graveside services were held at Linden Memorial Park in Linden on Thursday, Nov. 9 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Eddie Pickles officiating. Mrs. Richardson was born in Butler. She was a former service technician and a member of Forest Hill Baptist Church. Survivors include one son, Ronnie (Patricia) Richardson of Linden; one sister, Lucille Watts of Linden; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Earl Johnson, Stacey Singleton, Mike Williams, Dustin Smith, Mike Crosby and Kevin Carter. Funeral arrangements were directed by O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Linden.
Ned Rufus Smith Ned Rufus Smith, 51, of Magnolia died Monday, November 6, 2006 at his home. Funeral services were held at Wayne Baptist Church on Wednesday, Nov. 8 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Lister Hill officiating. Interment followed in Shiloh Cemetery in Dixons Mills. Mr. Smith was a former carpenter and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Ann Smith of Magnolia; one son, Ryan Patrick Smith of Ft. Knox, Ky.; one daughter, Michelle Smith of Livingston; one brother, Lonnie Smith of Demopolis; two sisters, Kathleen Hill of Thomasville and Linda Bailey of Grove Hill; and four grandchildren. Pallbearers were Don Harvell, Waylon Westbrook, Rex Avritt, Brent Parnell, David Bailey and Scott Bailey. Funeral arrangements were directed by O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville.
