Light Reflections
Take notice of God's wonder
Randy
Walker

I love this time of the year. The trees, reflecting their beautiful leaves let us know autumn is here. This is a time to take notice of God's wonder, as creation speaks to us. The joy of taking a walk through the woods can provide a therapeutic solitude.

Such an adventure provides a backdrop of colors which amazingly captures your attention. Man with all his intelligence could never create such a scene. It is a design from God to let us know that He is still in control. God determines when the seasons will change. He causes the wind to blow and the sun to shine. He is the creator of the universe and we are the creation. He is God alone.

God wants us to appreciate what he has provided for us. We celebrate this moment each year hopefully by embracing Thanksgiving with a grateful heart. It can easily be over looked with the commercialism of today. People get lost in the parties and chase after self indulgences. They miss a wonderful opportunity to learn from the simple things of life. They fail to stop and be thankful for the riches God.

It seems Thanksgiving has been reduced to turkey, dressing and football. We search for a solution to indigestion rather than digesting what Thanksgiving is all about. People become "coach potatoes" and support a lazy attitude of gluttony.

Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful for all God's blessings. The Bible says, "In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus." We are to slow down long enough and count the blessings of God in our lives. He has given us all the reason to be thankful. Our attitude becomes gratitude when we experience the joy of knowing Jesus as Lord and Savior. God gives us an excited journey in finding the fullness of living. He provides for our needs and His presence leads us in paths of righteousness. Thanksgiving is about "Thanks-living". We are to live with a focus on giving, by serving Christ and others. Has God blessed you? Take the time this year to let Thanksgiving be an opportunity of gratefulness. Speak to God with a sincere heart, take notice of the beauty of his creation and share the message of salvation and hope with the lost. God loves you and desires to bless you. Remember to go to church on Sunday and be thankful.
