Excellence is a habit, not an act
Sarah Ashley Sparks

Greetings from the Thomasville Band Room!

In the THS Band Room, we usually observe a "quote of the day" that is written on the board, and this week the quote happened to be one that most of our musicians are already familiar with. It is a quote made by the famous Aristotle: "We are what we repeatedly do: excellence then is not an act, but a habit." This saying was introduced to the marching band several years ago, and since then it has been the inspiration for many students. Musicians achieve excellence by continually reaching their potential over and over, and it becomes a habit instead of something that happens on occasion.

This week, the featured section of the band is the sousaphones. The sousaphone is the marching version of the tuba. The sousaphones are the main producers of the bass voice. The THS Marching Band has four sousaphones this year, and their section leader is Band Captain Ward Bedsole. Ward is a senior this year, and he is serving his third year on the Student Leadership Team as Band Captain.

We would like to congratulate the varsity football team for their win over Central-Tuscaloosa High School. This week, the Tigers will travel to Heflin to play Cleburne County in the second round of the playoffs. Please come out and support our Tigers.

The THSband sousaphones section are:Chris Courtney, Ariel Raccine, Michael Newton and Ward Bedsole.
Go Big Maroon!
