The Thomasville Middle School Lady Tiger basketball team ran their season record to 4-0 last week posting wins over the Middle School Ladies from Leroy on Monday, November 6, and Tuesday, November 7 and the Ladies from Wilson Hall on Thursday, November 9.

The Lady Tigers' first win over Leroy was a 34-15 victory on their home court in which the Thomasville girls got out to a 17-6 halftime lead and never let up. "Getting off to a great start really helped us in this win," Lady Tiger Coach Jim Sims said. "But it was our hustle and effort that got us through the early foul trouble and all the turnovers."

Leading the offense for Thomasville in that game was Amber Coston with 11 points followed by Kyera Rowe with 10. Others scoring included; Natalie Washington with seven points, Mahalia Crawford with four and R' Lexis Pugh with two. Rowe led the team on the boards with seven rebounds followed by Coston and Crawford with five each while Washington had four. Crawford and Washington had one assist each to lead the team in that category.

In the game Tuesday, the TMS Ladies were on the road at Leroy and came away with a 34-27 win. Although this game was much closer than the first one, the Lady Tigers never trailed in the game. "Foul trouble and turnovers continued to plague us in this game just as they did in our first two," Coach Jim Sims said. "They kept Leroy in the game Fortunately we had a couple of players who dug deep and in spite of being foul trouble took over the fourth quarter."

Kyera Rowe was the scoring leader in this second match-up with the Lady Bears scoring 14 points. Amber Coston was next with seven points followed by Natalie Washington with four. Others scoring included; Crystal Calhoun with three points, Mahalia Crawford, Shikira Holt and Alexis Watters with two each. Rowe also led the team in rebounds with 10 making it the second time already this season she has pulled a double/double. Following her with five rebounds was Natalie Washington while Alexis Watters had four. Amber Coston and Shikira Holt were the assist leaders with two each.

The Lady Tigers' third win of the week also came on the road at Wilson Hall. In this one the Thomasville Lady Tigers came from behind to defeat the Lady Bulldogs 30-21. The first two quarters were pretty even with the two teams leaving for the locker room at half time tied 11-11. The final two quarters were a different story with the Thomasville Ladies out scoring the Ladies from Wilson Hall 19-10. "I am proud of the way we fought back from a early deficit to win the game," Coach Sims said. "For some reason we couldn't hit the shots early but we managed to keep our starters out of foul trouble and our effort and hustle paid off for us down the stretch."

Kyera Rowe was again the points leader scoring 16. Amber Coston was next with eight followed by Crystal Calhoun, Mahalia Crawford, and Natalie Washington with two points each. Crawford and Rowe led the team on the boards with nine rebounds each followed by Calhoun with six and Washington with five. Rowe was the assist leader with three.

Up next for the TMS Lady Tigers is a rematch with the Middle School Ladies from Sweet Water on Thursday, November 16. The game will be played in Thomasville and will begin at 5:00 PM.
