Thanksgiving Service is today

The Thanksgiving Day Worship Service, set for Thursday, Nov. 23 at 10 a.m. at the Camden Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, will include a Thanksgiving message from a U.S. Senator, the presentation of the colors by local Boy Scouts, the pledge of allegiance led by a World War III veteran, the President's Thanksgiving Proclamation read by Camden Mayor Henrietta Blackmon, and participation by three local pastors.

U.S. Senator Jeff Sessions, who calls Camden home, has accepted the invitation to deliver the message. He is an active member of the Ashland Place United Methodist Church, Mobile. Hays Andrews, an elder in First Presbyterian Church, Camden and veteran of World War II will lead the Pledge of Allegiance to the U.S. Flag, following its presentation by two members of Boy Scout Troop 94, Morgan Harper and Samuel Lyon. Mayor Blackmon will read the President's 2006 Thanksgiving Proclamation, as she has done in previous years. Pastors Charles Autery, principal of Camden Christian Academy and pastor of the Christian Way Baptist Church and Ricky Eppes of Camden Church of Christ and director of Camden-Wilcox Churches "We Care" ministry, along with pastor.

Henry Lewis Smith of the Bethel and Camden ARP Church, will participate. Ike Lyon will assist with the music. The offering will go to the Sabra Sanctuary Ministry to abused wives and families. The entire community is invited to the 40-minute service. Camden ARP Church is located at 209 Broad Street.
