The Marengo County Historical Society invites you to experience Christmas Past and Present at Bluff Hall and Lyon Hall during Christmas in the Canebrake 2006.

These historic antebellum houses will be decorated in period fashion with fresh cedar, smilax, berries and cane among other native naturals, and aglow with soft candlelight. Schools' English Department and friends, and Maison de Briques have volunteered their time and talent to lovingly decorate each room for the holidays.

In addition, area talent will fill the air with the sounds of Christmas. Performing at Bluff Hall will be Sandra Ward, pianist, 5:30 pm; Dr. Judy Travis, flutist, 6 pm; Carolyn Bell, soprano soloist, 6:30 pm; Laura Clements, soprano soloist, 7 pm; and Catherine Meador, pianist, 7:30 pm. Come out and enjoy the musical styling of each of these talented singers and musicians and they ring in the Christmas season. Of course, Christmas in the Canebrake wouldn't be the same without the many sweets and savories, each lovingly prepared by Society volunteers. Join us as we welcome in the season on Thursday, November 30, 6 from 5:30 - 8 pm. Admission is $3.00 per person ages 12 and up. For more information, please contact the Society at 334 289 9644.
