Bedwell, Bailey exchanged vows Oct. 28
Officiating the 2 p.m. ceremony was the Very Rev. Michael L. Farmer. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Grady Lamar Bedwell of Jackson and Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Carroll Bailey III of Daphne. Grandparents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. John Jacob Jackson of Thomasville and Mrs Alvin A. Johnson Sr. of Mobile. Arrangements of bells of Ireland, yellow lilies, red roses, plum stock, hot pink asters, orange gerbera daisies, dark blue bella donna and ferns were placed on the altar in the cathedral. Also placed on the altar in memory of the late grandparents of the couple, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Roy Bedwell, Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Carroll Bailey Jr. and Alvin A. Johnson Sr., was an arrangement of fresh cut flowers. Music was provided by Paul Hanebuth, organist, Matthew Madonia, violinist and Dr. Peter Wood, trumpeter. Joseph Bedwell of Jackson, uncle of the bride and Mary Trawick, cantor, both sang special solos. Prelude music included selections from the "Water Music", by G.F. Handel and "Arioso" and "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring", by J.S. Bach. Music for the seating of the mothers was "Ave Maria" by Franz Schubert. As they entered they carried tussie mussies of ivory roses. The procession of the wedding party was "Canon in D" by J. Pachelbel with the bride entering to "The Prince of Denmark's March" by J. Clarke. Given in marriage by her parents, she wore a formal gown of white silk. The fitted strapless bodice had a rouched waist that draped around the back of the bodice which was attached with an ornate rhinestone broach. The slim A-line skirt cascaded into a chapel length train. The bride chose an English tulle embroidered veil which was accented with vines of silver embroidery, adorned with pearls, clear beads and opalescent crystals the flowed over the gown into a cathedral length veil. She carried a hand-tied bouquet of white Akita roses with a white hydrangea base, interspersed with stephanotis, tied with satin ribbon and fastened with pearl beaded pins. Serving as matrons of honor were Lesley Bedwell Lightcap of Spanish Fort and Brooke Bedwell Smith of Tuscaloosa, both sisters of the bride. Bridesmaids were Jennifer Bailey McDonald of Daphne, sister-in-law of the groom, Natalie McBride Bailey and Gillian O'Brien Bailey, both of Mobile and sisters of the groom, Dacy Brooke Slayton of Jackson, Haley Shawn Noble of Nashville, Tenn., Margaret Michelle Maddox of Tuscaloosa, Maryann Deason of Birmingham and Jessica Suzanne Reynolds of Atlanta, Ga. They wore gowns of European Royal Blue and carried hand-tied bouquets of Classy Red roses, plum stock and purple statice. Serving as best man was the groom's father. Jason Morgan Gross and Matthew Burton McDonald, brother-in-law of the groom and both of Daphne, Nicholas Earl Carter, Jason Scott Case, Hudson Norden Tapia, Weslee Paul Dubroc and Brennan Andrade Jones, all of Mobile, Henry Franklin Johnston of Tuscaloosa and Gerald Bevis McKean Jr. of Birmingham, served as the groomsmen. Ushers were Michael Thornton Lightcap of Spanish Fort, brother in-law of the bride, Michael Joseph Bedwell of Jackson, cousin of the bride, David Hamilton Barrett and Jason David Duhe, both of Mobile. Flower girl was Caroline Fleming Camp of Atlanta, cousin of the bride. She carried a kissing ball of red mini spray roses with purple statice and wore a halo with flowers of the same and carried a basket filled with rose petals. Ring bearer was Connor Lane Bishop of Prattville, cousin of the bride and readers were Ashley Johnson Barrows of Albany, Ga. and Judson Maynard Sanders II of Mobile. Directing the wedding was Mrs. Bobby Lightcap of Mobile. Reception A reception was held at the Ezell House in Mobile immediately following the ceremony. Swags of fresh greenery were placed over the entrance of the front doors and down the banisters. Large arrangements of fresh cut flowers in the bride's chosen colors were placed in the parlor rooms and atop the fountain in the garden area. An assortment of heavy hors d'oeuvres including, chicken Delmonico, pasta, crab cakes, shrimp, a variety of fruits and cheeses, vegetables and dips, along with carving stations of prime rib were featured throughout the house. In one of the rooms, the mantel was decorated with arrangements of fresh flowers which cascaded down from the top of the mirror onto the mantel. The room featured the bride's five-tiered butter cake filled with cream cheese filling and featured fondant ribbon icing cascading down the front of the cake accented with white roses intersected with ribbon at each layer in replica of the edge of the bride's veil. "Hot Wire" provided the music and the father of the bride serenaded his daughter with a rendition of "My Girl". Flower girls threw rose petals as the couple prepared to leave for a honeymoon to Atlantis in the Bahamas. The couple is making their home in Mobile. Bridesmaid Luncheon The bridesmaid luncheon was conducted on Oct. 27 in the Violet Room of the Mobile Marriott. Flowers cut from the bride's late grandmother's garden were placed in vases on each of the tables. Hostessing the event were aunts and cousins of the bride, Beryl Anderson, Donna Anderson, Carroll Bedwell, Lauren Bedwell, Linda Bedwell, Marcie Bedwell, Marie Bishop, Cami Camp and Elsie Merle Jackson, grandmother of the bride. Guests enjoyed a menu of chicken Wellington, salad, whipped potatoes and cheesecake. The bride chose this time to present gifts to her attendants and hostesses. Rehearsal Dinner A rehearsal dinner hosted by the groom's parents was conducted at the Heron Lakes Country Club in Mobile on Oct. 27. An arrangement of fresh cut flowers in the bride's chosen colors was placed on the main dining table. White linen cloths and arrangements of fresh flowers in vases were placed on each table. Heavy hor d'ouevres were served and toasts were made to the couple. Guests enjoyed a slide presentation of photographs of the couple from past to present. A menu of prime rib, mashed potatoes and fresh asparagus was served to members of the wedding party and out-of-town guests.
The groom's two-tiered chocolate cake with chocolate icing featured a design of a bass leaping from the sea.
