Light Reflections
Remember the greatest gift this holiday season
Randy Walker
Wow, Thanksgiving was wonderful! It

didn't take long for me to realize that the turkey is not the only thing that gets "stuffed" at Thanksgiving. The food was great but when does the "swelling" go down? I could go days without searching for another turkey. It was great to be with family sharing a heart of gratitude. Life is exciting when we focus on the simple part of living. We can easily forget the treasures so closely to us. We are blessed when there is health, food, shelter and friends. These are gifts to be cherished and appreciated.

Also we live in the greatest country in the world where we have religious freedom and the opportunity to make a living. Many are living under persecution and fear for their lives. Some will go to bed hungry and all alone. Many will sleep out in the cold without the warmth of a fireplace or central heating. This season, many will fight depression as they miss loved ones. We have men and women who are defending our freedom thousands of miles from home.

We need to remind ourselves of all the things for which we are grateful. Don't let the "rush" of commercialism steal your joy. The most important thing in life is still people. Jesus Christ died for the sins of people. He paid a price so we could experience the best of life. Our salvation and hope is found in Christ. This season, we can embrace sharing by serving others. We can give a gift the stores cannot afford by giving of ourselves. We can feed the hungry, clothe the poor and accept the out cast.

We can be a "life line" to the lost by sharing Christ. We can decide what has control of us and stand firm against the temptation of over indulgence. We can choose to let Christ in our lives and keep living simple. Remember, the greatest gift this season is the fact that God loves you. May God richly bless you today.
