THS band prepare for parades
Sarah Ashley Sparks
Greetings from the Thomasville Band

Room!

The Thomasville High School Mighty Marching Tiger Band is planning to perform in two different Christmas parades this year. Thomasville's annual Christmas parade will be held this Saturday, Dec. 2 at 10 o'clock a.m. in the downtown area. Grove Hill is also hosting a Christmas parade that we will be participating in next Thursday, Dec. 7 at 4 p.m. The marching band will be rehearsing for the parades this week as well as rehearsing for the play-off game performances.

This week, the featured section of the marching band is the auxiliaries. This year, we have two separate groups of auxiliaries: dance team and color guard. The THS Dance Team consists of nine girls, and they are specifically named the Tigerettes. Dianna Baker is the Dance Captain, and Shaina Smith is Co-Captain. Both of these girls are seniors at THS. The dance team performs with the band, and they have routines for both the stands and the halftime show.

The THS Color Guard also consists of nine girls, and they perform routines with a variety of different props, from flags and hoops to pom-poms. This section of the auxiliaries also separate routines for the stands and the halftime show. The Color Guard Captain is Jessica Blackmon, who is also a senior this year at THS.

The band has been fully supportive of the football team throughout their regular season as well as the play-offs. We have been faithful in our support, traveling long distances in order to attend games. We would like to congratulate the THS Varsity football team for defeating Trinity Presbyterian in their game this past Friday night.

This week, the football team faces Andalusia in the fourth round of the 4A play-offs in Andalusia. We are proud of our Tigers, and we wish them the best of luck this Friday night.

Please be sure to come out and support our Tigers and cheer
