New town clerk in Grove Hill
      Michele Floyd is moving from being an urban forester for a multi-county area to town clerk for Grove Hill. Mayor Lamar Hudson announced the appointment Monday night. The post has been vacant since the death of longtime Town Clerk Edd Stifflemire a few months ago.

      The grand opening for WESCO, a welding supply company, was held Wednesday in the Thomasville Industrial Park. WESCO has been in business for 45 years and Thomasville is the company’s seventh location.

      The Southwest Alabama Boys and Girls Club held a raffle recently for an Auburn and Alabama quilt. Howard Duning won the Auburn quilt and Courtney Duron won the Alabama quilt.       Mallory Broadus competed in the finale “Afterschool (Not) Idle” contest on Nov. 28 at the MSU Riley Center in Meridian, Miss. Before the competition, the contestants, judges and several Meridian dignitaries attended a reception to get acquainted.

Pine Hill Tree of Lights dedication is today
      The 15th Annual Dedication of the Tree of Lights will be held in the lobby of the Bank of Pine Hill Thursday afternoon, Dec. 7 at 3 p.m. Angels can be purchased for the tree for a minimum of $5 in memory or honor of someone. All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society.
