T’ville and Sweet Water support each other
During the recent days, we here at The Thomasville Times have heard from Sweet Water folks how they were rooting for the Thomasville High School Tigers during their 4A championship game.

And despite their disappointment in the outcome of Thomasville’s game, we know many in Thomasville were happy for the Bulldogs from Sweet Water when they captured the 1A title.

In these days where it seems easy for some people to take youth sports too seriously to the point of violence, it’s refreshing to see two communities come together, celebrating each other’s successes.

While Thomasville and Sweet Water share a rivalry on the field in the early season, it is a healthy one, based on mutual respect.

Though in different counties, Thomasville and our neighbors to the north, Sweet Water and Pine Hill, share much and if future growth comes as predicted, we will likely be more linked, economically and otherwise, than ever before.

And future opportunities for cooperation will present themselves with the possibility of a regional airport in the coming years that would require the cooperation of these communities and others in the region.

Based on the mutual support shown in the recent championship games, we’re optimistic about the possibilities for the future.
