TMS Lady Tigers remain unbeaten The Thomasville Middle School Lady Tiger basketball team won two more games this past week and in the process improved their season record to 9-0. Both of the victories came at home with the TMS girls taking the Jackson Middle School Lady Aggies 33-22 on Monday, December 4, and then handling the Lady Bulldogs of Wilson Hall Middle School 37- 29 on Tuesday, December 5. In Monday’s action the Lady Tigers took a 21-9 lead in the first half and then played good defense and basically matched the Lady Aggies basket for basket in the second half to preserve the win. “I thought both teams played good defense in the game,” Lady Tiger Coach Jim Sims said. “I was particularly happy with our inside defensive rotation to the ball. The girls really helped each other.” Leading the scoring against the Lady Aggies was Amber Coston with 13 points followed closely by Kyera Rowe with 10. Crystal Calhoun added four points while Jasmine Brackett, Mahalia Crawford and Alexis Watters all had two apiece. Coston and Rowe were the leaders on the boards with four rebounds each followed by Brackett and Crawford with two. Rowe was the assist leader with six with Coston and Crawford contributing two each. On Tuesday the Lady Tigers fell behind 22-16 to the Lady Bulldogs of Wilson Hall in the first half but rallied in the final two quarters to pull out the win. “Wilson Hall took advantage of some fast break opportunities in the first quarter to jump out to a lead,” Coach Jim Sims said. “But our defense came alive in the second quarter slowing them down and giving us opportunities at the basket. I am very proud of this groups fight and determination.” Kyera Rowe had the hot hand for the Lady Tigers in the battle with the Lady Bulldogs, scoring 16 points. Amber Coston was next with 10 followed by Jasmine Brackett with five. Crystal Calhoun, Mahalia Crawford, and Shaniqua Washington rounded out the scoring with two points each. Brackeff was the leader on the boards, pulling down five rebounds while Rowe had four and Coston three. Coston and Rowe tied for the lead in assists with two apiece.
The TMS ladies were scheduled to finish their season on Tuesday, December 12, once again playing host to the Lady Bulldogs of Wilson Hall Middle School.
