OBITUARIES

Gertrude Phillips Hicks

Gertrude Phillips Hicks, 83, of Thomasville died Friday, December 22, 2006 at Mobile Infirmary. Funeral services were held at Salem Baptist Church in Scyrene on Saturday, December 23 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Jimmy Powell officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Hicks was a homemaker and was a member of Salem Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Jackson of Thomasville and Deborah Johnson of Mobile; two sisters, Irene Gentry of Uriah and Louise Brock of Fairhope; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Rodney Jackson, Cecil Hunt, Michael Johnson, Don Bolton, Billy Hicks and R. C. Walker, Jr.

Funeral arrangements were directed by O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville.

Windell McCaskill

Windell McCaskill, 54, of Lower Peach Tree died December 16, 2006 at his residence. Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 23 at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas A.M.E. Church with Rev. W. W. Nixon officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Mr. McCaskill was retired from the Linden City School System after 26 years of service and was a member of St. Thomas A.M.E. Church.

Survivors include his wife, Regenia Ann McCaskill of Lower Peach Tree; one daughter, Terrica N. McCaskill of Montgomery; one son, Ricky L. McCaskill of Lower Peach Tree; three sisters, Jessie Chapman of Lower Peach Tree, Rosa (Ronald) Austin of Thomasville and Renae (Tony) Gines of Madison, Miss.; and one brother, Walter Davis of Mobile.

Funeral services were directed by Thomasville Memorial Funeral Home in Thomasville.

Ronny Earl Pritchett

Ronny Earl Pritchett, 48, of Demopolis died Friday, December 15, 2006 in Linden. Graveside services were held at Linden Memorial Park on Sunday, Dec. 17 at 3:30 p.m. with Rev. Dennis Carlson officiating.

Mr. Pritchett was a millwright with Linden Lumber Company.

Survivors include his parents, Edward Earl and Mary Ann Pritchett of Linden; four brothers, Billy (Pat) Pritchett, Mike (Terri) Pritchett and Woody Pritchett, all of Linden and Jim (Angie)

Pritchett of Decatur; one niece; five nephews; and companion, Liz Hamilton of Demopolis.

Active pallbearers were Curtis Hare, Allen Hartzell, Arthur Henson, Paul Warren, Willie Wilkinson, Jr., Stan Wilkinson, Jerry Quinney, P. J. Johnson, Jack Barkley, Jim Kirkham.

Honorary pallbearers were the Marengo Academy Class of 1976 and the Employees of Linden Lumber Company.

Funeral arrangements were directed by O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Linden.

Johnny Cleveland Turner, Jr.

Johnny Cleveland (J.C. or Gates) Turner, Jr., 59 of Thomasville died December 22, 2006 at his residence. Funeral services were held Dec. 27 at 11 a.m. at New Greater First Baptist Church in Thomasville. Interment followed in the New Hope No. 2 Cemetery in Thomasville.

Mr. Turner was a Vietnam veteran and was a member of New Greater First Baptist Church.

Survivors include several aunts and cousins.

Funeral arrangements were directed by Thomasville Memorial Funeral Home in Thomasville.
