Spiritual Reflections
Jesus is coming again
Pat Ozment, Jr.
The story of Christmas began way before the angels told the shepherds that the “Babe in a manger” was born on that star lit night in Bethlehem. You could say it began when Adam and Eve disobeyed God and brought sin into the world. Their sin was no surprise to God. As creator of the universe, He knew it was bound to happen. He had a plan to save mankind from sin.

That plan was foretold by men of God, known as prophets. When it was time, God Himself, took the form of a man, and came to earth as a little baby named Jesus of Nazareth. A young virgin named Mary carried Him in her body so that, He was born as a man, but without a human father. This Jesus, the God Man, lived a perfect sinless life. He did great works on earth that proved His divine nature.

Jesus gave sight to the blind, healed the leper, made the lame walk, and even raised the dead. His love, His righteousness, and His power made evil men jealous and angry. They devised a plan to kill Him. He was arrested, falsely accused, tried, and convicted, in an illegal trial.

He could have stopped it all at any time, but He did not, because it was not really their plan. It was God’s plan, to save man from sin’s penalty of death. So they, mocked Him, beat Him, and then put Him to death, by nailing Him to a cross. He hung there until His suffering was enough to pay for the sin of the whole world, and then He gave up His life.

Some friends took Him down from the cross and buried Him. On the third day He arose from the dead. He proved His power over sin and death, and now He is seated at the right hand of God the Father, making intercession for those who believe.

God did this in love so that all who confess their sin, and turn to Jesus in faith, will be saved, and spend eternity in heaven. Never forget that the Jesus of the cradle is also the Jesus of the cross, and when you think of the “Babe in a manger,” remember the rest of the story.

You see, He is coming again, see you in Church.
