Area players make Super 12 list

The ASWA posted its 2006 All-State Football Team this past week and two of the names included in the ASWA Super 12 were; Thomasville senior Jake Overstreet 6-1, 205 and Sweet Water junior Anthony Landrum 6-1, 200. Overstreet who was also selected 4A back of the year earlier this month was listed as a quarterback/defensive back while Landrum who was a finalist for the 1A back of the year went in as a running back. They were included on the Super 12 list with Prattville senior QB Larry Smith 6-3, 195; Athens senior QB Rob Ezell 6-1, 185; Susan Moore senior QB Zach Smith 6-1, 185; Hoover senior QB Ross Wilson 5-11, 195; Wadley senior RB Terrance Wilkes 5- 10, 180; UMS - Wright senior RB Terrell Edwards 6-2, 215; Houston Academy senior RB/DB Stanley Jones 6-1, 180; Foley junior WR Julio Jones 6- 4, 205; Hoover senior OL Ryan Pugh 6-3, 290; and Athens senior OL/DL Alfred McCullough 6-4,290. Naturally both Overstreet and Landrum were included on the first team selections within their classifications.
Joining Landrum on the 1A first team offensive team was junior offensive lineman Wes Burnett. Over on the 1A first team defense the Bulldogs placed three players including; junior Drew Luker at defensive back, senior Dominic Holt at linebacker and senior Jacques Lockett on the defensive line.

Named along with Overstreet to the 4A first team offense was junior offensive lineman Cody Friddle. On the 4A first team defense Tiger sophomore defensive back Alex Buford and junior linebacker Katrell Watters were named to the squad.
In the 1A Honorable Mention category the Bulldogs had senior place kicker Ty Glass and junior defensive lineman Nakia Dennis named while Thomasville junior running back Delvonte Harris was listed among those receiving Honorable Mention recognition in 4A.
