OBITUARIES Dorothy Westbrook Aydelott Dorothy Westbrook Aydelott, 97, died December 29, 2006. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 1, 2007 at Linden Memorial Park. Mrs. Aydelott served as clerk at the probate court of Marengo County for more than 20 years. She was a member and past president of Business and Professional Women and a councilor for the City of Linden. She was preceded in death by her husband, O. Larimore Aydelott. Survivors include three nieces, Hays Westbrook Caplinger of Nanafalia, Rosalie Westbrook Gross of Oxford, Miss. and Maralon Westbrook Jones of Annandale, N. J.; three nephews, Alonzo Heath Purser of Sunny South, A. G. Westbrook, Jr. of Demopolis and Charles Westbrook of Mebane, N. C. and 20 great-nieces and greatnephews. Funeral arrangements were directed by O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Linden. Oweda Bryant Calhoun Oweda Bryant Calhoun, 65, a native of Lower Peach Tree and resident of Tuskegee died December 24, 2006 at a Montgomery Nursing Facility. Funeral services were held December 30 at 1 p.m. at the St. Thomas A.M.E. Church in Lower Peach Tree with Father Romanus Ezeugwu, MSP officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Mr. Calhoun retired from the Macon County School System after 30 years of service. Survivors include two brothers Jesse (Mamie) Bryant of Hillside, Ill. and William (Muriel) Bryant of Lisle, Ill.; one sister, Odessa Kirkland of Lower Peach Tree; and three sisters-inlaw, Jimmie Rose Bryant of Thomasville, Mary M. Bryant and Alma Bryant. Funeral arrangements were directed by Thomasville Memorial Funeral Home of Thomasville. Margaret Clay Curtis Margaret Clay Curtis, 87, formerly of Thomaston and a resident of Linden died Friday, December 29, 2006 at Marengo Nursing Home in Linden. Funeral services were held at Thomaston United Methodist Church on Monday, Jan. 1, 2007 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Harold Bordages officiating. Interment followed at Thomaston Cemetery. Mrs. Curtis was a former bank teller and was a member of Thomaston United Methodist Church. Survivors include one son, R. C. (Ann) Curtis, Jr. of Cummins, Ga.; son-in-law, John Dial, Sr. of Seale; one sister, Mary Glover Foot of Birmingham; eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great greatgrandchild. Pallbearers were Tommy Moseley, Lex Parker, Clifford Mitchell, Clevis Kaeo, Buddy Vick and James C. Etheridge. Funeral arrangements were directed by O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Linden. Jean Milstead Fasulla Jean Milstead Fasulla, 49, of Sweet Water died Friday, December 29, 2006 at her home. Funeral services were held at Beaver Creek Baptist Church in Sweet Water on Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at 3 p.m. with Rev. Tony Cannon officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Mrs. Fasulla was a store cashier. Survivors include two daughters, Stephanie Fasulla of Sweet Water and Stacy Fasulla of McNeil, Miss.; her parents, Henry and Virginia Milstead of Sweet Water; three sisters, Barbara Ballard, Alethanette Ballard and Betsy Milstead, all of Sweet Water; father of her children, Martin Fasulla of Kenner, La.; and one granddaughter, Alissa Simmons of McNeil. Active pallbearers were Martin Fasulla, Bryan Ballard, Billy Ballard, Adam Ballard, Sammy Hamilton, Jr. and Brad Hamilton. Nettie "Bernice" Griffin Nettie "Bernice" Griffin, 89, of Franklin died Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at Monroe County Hospital. Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 29 at 10 a.m. at the Springhill Baptist, Inc. Church with Rev. John Siegler and Rev. Jimmy Griffin officiating. Interment followed at Deer-Corinth Cemetery in Franklin. Mrs. Griffin was a member of Springhill Baptist, Inc. Church and was a saleslady in the clothing department for the Bedsole's Store in Monroeville for many years. Survivors include her husband, Clifton S. Griffin of Franklin; one son, Dale (Janice) Griffin of Franklin; one daughter, Glenda Kelly of Pine Hill; five grandchildren, and six greatgrandchildren. Funeral arrangements were directed by Johnson Funeral Home in Monroeville. Mary Gene Haynes Mary Gene Hayes, 77, of Linden died Saturday, December 30, 2006 at Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital in Demopolis. Graveside services were held at Linden Memorial Park on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Don Smith officiating. Mrs. Haynes was a homemaker and was a member of Linden United Methodist Church. Survivors include one daughter, Donna Kay Mansfield of Linden; two sons, Gregory Wren Haynes of Moulton and Jeffrey Wayne Haynes of Wetumpka; two brothers, Franklin D. Chandler of Wetumpka and Ernest Oliver Chandler of Fayetteville; and three grandchildren. Funeral services were directed by O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Linden. Nora Belle Etheredge Nora Belle Etheredge, 80, of Pine Hill died Thursday, December 28, 2006 at Jackson Medcial Center in Jackson. Funeral services were held at O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home on Monday, Jan. 1, 2007 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Randy Walker officiating. Interment followed at Choctaw Corner Cemetery in Thomasville. Mrs. Etheredge was a former machine operator at a shirt factory. Survivors include her husband, Raymond Massey Etheredge of Pine Hill; three sons, Hiram Perry Gibson and John Franklin Gibson, both of Thomasville and Huey R. Gibson of Faunsdale; three daughters, Nancy Belle Etheredge Higginbotham of Panama City Beach, Fla., Rose Etheredge Hodge of Kentucky and Vivian Gray Gibson Thumb of Newnan, Ga.; 18 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren. Active pallbearers were Chad Edmonds, Derrick Clark, Rod Gibson, John Gibson, Allen Ballard, Charles Boykin. Honorary pallbearers Stanley Turk, Walter Turk, Lee Turk and Tommy Stapleton. John Harper Morgan John Harper Morgan, 78, of Gilbertown died Monday, December 25, 2006 at Rush Memorial Hospital in Meridian, Miss. Graveside services were held at Kelly Cemetery in Pine Hill on Wednesday, Dec. 27 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Leon Ross and Rev. Marvin Smith, Jr. officiating. Mr. Morgan was a native of Wilcox County and was a former saw mill worker and a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Diane Morgan of Camden and Marsha (Raymond) Young of Gilbertown; three sons, Mark Morgan, Donnie Morgan and Paul Morgan, all of Camden; two special friends, Mrs. M. F. Young of Gilbertown and Mrs. Louise Williams of Camden; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Active pallbearers were Gene Autrey, Jackie Autrey, Wayne Dumas, Larry Dumas, Robert Dumas and Billy Newton. Honorary pallbearers were Charlie Tyler, Koss Green, Dan Harvell, Don Harvell, Dennis Harvell, Russell Harvell, Clarence Harvell, Gray Harvell and Tommy Nelson. Lawrence William Sloma Lawrence William Sloma, 64, of Grove Hill died Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at Mobile Infirmary. Funeral services were held at Salem Baptist Church in Scyrene on Saturday, Dec. 30 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Bealie Harrison and Rev. Randall Mims officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Mr. Sloma was truck driver and was a member of Salem Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Alice Faye Sloma of Grove Hill; one daughter, Annette Suzanne Dailey of Marysville, Wash.; one step-daughter, Jennifer Newton of Scyrene; two step-sons, Eddie Sims of Millry and Jeffrey Latham of Grove Hill; two brothers, Ronnie Sloma of Clear Water, Fla. and Robert Lespi of Millbrook; four sisters, Brenda Metas and Carol Niemi, both of Bruce Crossing, Mich., Diana Maki of Trout Creek, Mich., and Charlotte Stokes of Thomaston; and six grandchildren. Active pallbearers were Rod Laduron, Jeff Laduron, Nicholas Laduron, Darrell Stokes, David Stokes and Galen Stokes.
