Spiritual Reflections
Pray "Thy will be done"
Pat Ozment, Jr.
Peggy is packing for our move to Ghana. I'm trying to stay out of her way. In our 43 years of marriage we have moved 21 times, and I have learned that it is best if she packs our stuff, and I move it. Peggy is limited, by the airlines, to 8 pieces of checked luggage at 50 lbs. each, and two carry on bags for each of us. That sounds like a lot, but three years is a long time. Here are some things we are taking.

First we need to make sure that we have a good supply of patience. We will need this at the airports, first in Montgomery, then in Memphis, and Amsterdam, and finally in Ghana. Some of it will be used at the ticket counters, some for the skycaps, some for the security people, some for the flight crews, and some for customs people.

Then we will need to save some back for the nationals in Ghana, just until they adjust to our way of doing things.

Next we must be sure we take some humility, quite a large dose I'd expect, for all those times we look foolish as we try to blend in where the language, culture, environment, and people are different from what we are accustomed to.

Since we are bound to look foolish a lot, we had better pack our sense of humor, and be ready to laugh along with those who laugh at us. We have been told, by those who have made the journey before us, to take an ample supply of courage and faith. We are concerned that our supply of these two are not going to be enough so, if you have any extra, you might send it to us.

Anyway you probably get the picture. There is more to this than packing the coffee pot, clean underwear and a toothbrush.

The most important thing for us to take is the Love of Jesus. If we have enough of that, our mission will be successful. Pray the prayer for us that never fails, "Thy will be done." Have a wonderful New Year, and we will see you in Church.
