Alabama Tombigbee RPO to meet Jan. 29 Implementation meetings for the Alabama Tombigbee Regional Commission's Rural Planning Organization are scheduled for January 29 and 30 in Camden. The RPO will establish a transportation planning process in the rural areas of southwest Alabama and serve as a formal link between the ALDOT and the local governments. The counties to be served are Choctaw, Clarke, Conecuh, Dallas, Marengo, Monroe, Perry, Sumter, Washington and Wilcox. The RPO will provide government officials and citizens in these counties an opportunity to advise the ALDOT on road, bridge and other transportation projects. ATRC Executive Director John Clyde Riggs said, "We are excited at the prospect of what this brings to transportation planning in our ten counties. We feel it will lead to an effective partnership between our counties and the Alabama Department of Transportation. All RPO meetings are open to the public.
