Historical Society to hear program on Fort Mims Dr. Gregory Waselkov, author of 'A Conquering Spirit, Fort Mims and the Red Stick War of 1813-1814' will discuss his new book and sign copies at a meeting sponsored by the Clarke County Historical Society and the Grove Hill Library. The meeting will be held Sunday, Jan. 28 in the fellowship hall of the Grove Hill United Methodist Church. Dr. Waselkov is Professor of Anthropology and Directory of the Center for Archaeological Studies at the University of South Alabama. His new book examines the August 30, 1813 massacre at Fort Mims, in which hundreds of men, women and children were killed. A limited number of the books will be available for sale for $39.95 (plus tax). The public is invited to attend. VFW Post 5106 to meet VFW Post 5106 and its Ladies Auxiliary will have their regular monthly meeting Monday, Jan. 29 at 7 p.m. All members are urged to attend this important meeting. Clarke County Cattleman's Assc. to meet The Clarke County Cattleman's Association will hold it's annual dinner meeting Saturday, February 3 at 6:30 p.m. at Clarke Prep School in Grove Hill. Dr. Tony Frazier of Auburn University will be the guest speaker. Sweet Water Youth Baseball registration to start Sweet Water Youth Baseball will have registration throughout the month of February. You may pick up a registration form at Sweet Water Town Hall or Sweet Water High School during business hours. Registration Day will be on February 17 at the Sweet Water High School Gym classroom from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Bring insurance information, a copy of your child's birth certificate and a registration fee of $35. SAMC Auxiliary to hold scrub sale Southwest Alabama Medical Center Auxiliary will hold a uniform scrub sale Wednesday, Feb. 21 - Thursday, Feb. 22 from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. (both days).
Everyone is welcome to attend and purchase from a wide variety of uniform scrubs.
