Gunfire erupts in argument An argument over a cigarette nearly cost one man his life and landed the other in jail last week. Apparently Calvin Rankin and Daniel Black were at a residence on Walker Springs Road when the altercation erupted. Rankin, 40, of Alma, allegedly fired a 20 gauge shotgun at Black. Black jumped behind a pickup truck, which was hit by the shot. Rankin was charged with attempted murder and his bond was set at $50,000. Clarke County Sheriff's Department and Jackson Police Department responded. Other arrests booked through the Clarke County Sheriff's Department include: Camilla Denise McCaskey Allen, 41, drug paraphernalia use/possession, liquor law violation, driving while license suspended, promoting prison contraband, $11,500 bond, arrested by Clarke County Sheriff's Dept. Angela Barnes, 28, probation violation, $20,000 bond, arrested by Alabama Probation Office. Harlin Mark Bolen, 32, theft of property, first degree, possession of burglary tools, receiving stolen property, $40,000 bond, arrested by Clarke County Sheriff's Dept. James Laverne Davis, 45, DUI, possession of controlled substance, possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia use/possession, liquor law violation, person forbidden to carry a firearm, tampering with physical evidence, $37,500 bond, arrested by Jackson Police Dept. Rick Lee Harrell, 36, drug paraphernalia use/possession, attempting to manufacture methamphetamine, $9,000 bond, arrested by Clarke County Sheriff's Dept. Gary Wayne Hicks, 54, DUI, driving while license revoked, $8,000 bond, arrested by Jackson Police Dept. William S. Johnson, 45, felony DUI, $10,000 bond, arrested by Thomasville Police Dept. Cyrus Eugene Jones, 27, domestic violence, $7,500 bond, arrested by Jackson Police Dept. Dennis Ray Jones, 49, DUI, reckless driving, driving while license revoked, driving on wring side of road, illegal possession of alcohol, $3,500 bond, arrested by Clarke County Sheriff's Dept.
