Overstreet receives FCA honor

Thomasville Tiger senior quarterback Jake Overstreet was named the South Alabama Fellowship of Christian Athletes - Player of the Year on Wednesday, January 24. The presentation of the award came at the Chick-Fil-A FCA Senior Bowl Rally which was held at the Mobile Convention Center. Over 3,000 people attended the event which was one of the largest of its kind ever held in the United States.

The selection process for the award began by narrowing the possible choices to fourteen players and then passing the list on to the FCA Board of Directors of Alabama to make the final choice. In the final analysis alter the vote was taken,

Overstreet was selected as this year's winner with Foley quarterback Roosevelt Byrd finishing as the runnerup. Criteria used in making the selection included year ending statistics and the core values of the individual (integrity, willingness to serve others, focus on teamwork, and commitment to excellence).
