Bad check writers on notice

If you've written a bad check recently and had a warrant signed against you but have not paid the check, look for your name to be in a coming issue of one of the county newspapers.

District Attorney Spence Walker advises that his office will start publishing the names of all persons with outstanding bad checks Feb. 20. Both old and current warrants will be published in a series of ads that will rotate among the three county newspapers.

Those whose names will appear can take care of their checks before Feb. 20 and avoid publication, Walker advised.

"There will be no agreements or extensions in these cases," Walker states in the notice.

The DA's Worthless Check Unit is located on the second floor of the south wing of the courthouse.
