Etheridge attends workshop at AU

Gayle Etheridge of the Rural Heritage Foundation in Thomaston joined colleagues from throughout the states of Alabama, George and Florida at the seventh annual Community Festivals Best Practices Workshop held Jan. 26 at Auburn University.

The day-long event, hosted by the Auburn Technical Assistance Center (ATAC) and co-sponsored with the U. S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration, featured a panel of nationally recognized festival and event-planning experts. Participants learned strategies and tactics for attracting attendance; obtaining no-cost event publicity; promotion; working with limited budgets; building and fostering a reputation for the event; planning the right type of event for your location, and the economic impact of community festivals.
