Alice Phillips Fallon

Alice Phillips Fallon, age 56, died Feb. 5, 2007.

She was born Dec. 23, 1950.

She was a 1969 graduate of Thomasville High School. She then went to college in Birmingham. Alice made her home in Fultondale and worked as a lab technologist.

She was preceded in death by her father, Cecil A. Phillips. She is survived by her husband, Eugene Fallon, son Michael Fallon and his wife Cathy; two step-daughters, Ginger Belvin and husband Charles, and Tammy Purser and husband Dale; five grandchildren, Jordan and Trey Belvin, Austin and Madison Purser and Christopher Fallon and another grandchild soon to arrive; her mother, Mrs. Terry Phillips and three sisters; Loretta Fendley, Lucille Ballard and CeCe Lawler.

Donations may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation in her memory.

Clarence "Papa" Robinson

Clarence "Papa" Robinson, age 94, passed away January 29, 2007 at Grove Hill Memorial Hospital. He was born September 5, 1912 to the late Mazie Daugherty and Luke Robinson.

Funeral services were held Feb. 7 at First Baptist Church of Whatley, with Rev. Fernell Pendleton as officiating minister. Burial was in the First Baptist Church Cemetery.

He is survived by daughter, Tilda (John) Jones of whatley; sons, Millard James Robinson of Whatley and Clarence (Mary) Robinson of Silver Springs, Maryland; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by wife, Arnita Robinson; daughter, Ruby (Silas) Law; brother, Rev. Luster Robinson.

Pallbearers were Darren Law, David Law, Patrick Law, Nicholas Robinson, Albert Shamburger, Jerry Pendleton and Arthur Yelder.

Flower Bearers were friends.

Marshall Cleveland Hughes

Marshall Cleveland Hughes, age 77, of New Orleans, LA, passed away, February 7, 2007. He was born December 13, 1929 in Linden. He graduated from Marengo High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Saint Wisdom Primitive Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held Feb. 10 at Saint Wisdom Primitive Baptist Church in Sweet Water with Deacon Lee Jeffrey Griffin as master of order and Rev. John E. Sanders, Pastor. Burial was at Payne's Chapel Cemetery in Sweet Water.

He is survived by wife, Velma Hughes; children, Anthony (Karen) Hughes of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Kirkland (Denise) Hughes of Atlanta, GA, Mark (Debra) Hughes of New Orleans, JoEllen and Chandra Hughes both of Sweet Water, Al; sister, Doris (Tollie) woods of Grand Rapids, MI; brother, Richard Hughes of Prichard; 9 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; a host of others family and friends.

He was preceded in death by parents, Richard and Ella Hughes and brother, Thomas Hughes.

Pallbearers were nephews and cousins.

Honorary pallbearers were Anthony Hughes, Mark Hughes, Kirk Hughes, Todd Anthony Hughes and Oren Douglass Hughes.

Flower bearers were the Nieces.

Warne Johnson

Warne Johnson, age 21, of Lower Peachtree, passed away on Feb. 4, 2007.

He was born on Jan. 31, 1986. He was a member of the A.O.H. Church of God in Lower Peachtree.

Funeral services were held, Feb. 10 at A.O.H. Church of God with overseer Jessie Henry as officiating Pastor and mistress of ceremony, sister Dorothy H. Robinson. Burial was in Mt. Sinai A.M.E. Church Cemetery in Lower Peachtree.

He is survived by parents, Wallace and Rosetta Johnson, sister, Santina Johnson, brother, Isaac Johnson, all of Lower Peachtree; grandmothers, Nellie M. Carstarphen and Charlotte Johnson of Lower Peachtree; 10 Aunts; 17 Uncles; cousins and devoted girlfriend, Erica Woods.

Pallbearers were the class of 2004 & Johnson Brothers.

Flower bearers were the class of 2004 & Friends.

Edna Earle Welcher

Edna Earle Welcher, age 79, of Pine Hill, passed away Monday, February 5, 2007, at Southwest Alabama Medical Center in Thomasville. She was a former secretary with the Alabama Timber Industries and a member of Pine Hill Baptist Church.

She is survived by two brothers, Edmund Perkins and wife Betty Jean of Pensacola, Fla., Ray Perkins and wife Linda of Pine Hill, and a neice, Kristy Haynie and husband Tommy of Ashville, N.C.

She was preceded in death by her parents William Earl and Mary Celeste Perkins, husband Roger Welcher, son Roger Welcher, and neice Susan Perkins.

Pallbearers were Hank Champion, Kevin Avritt, Henry Champion, Kennon Agee, Rex Avritt and David Wright. Honorary pallbearers were Luther Spires, Bobby Gibson, Billy Phillips, Wayne Morgan, James Dunn, Harry Mason and Jerry Bolen.

Funeral services were held at O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Carl Williams officiating. Burial was in Pine Hill Cemetery.

O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville was in charge of arrangements.

Wilhelmina "Hitsy" Pirtle

Wilhelmina "Hitsy" Parnell Pirtle, age 58, of San Diego, Cali., died Friday Feb. 2, 2007, at Sharp Chuta Vista Hospital in Chula Vista, Calif.

She was born Dec. 28, 1948 in Grove Hill.

She is survived by her husband, William Pirtle of San Diego, mother Wilhelmina Parnell of Thomasville, son Brett Levinson of Atlanta, Ga., son Joshua Levinson of New Orleans, La., step-son Billy Pirtle of Nashville, Tenn., stepdaughter Jessica Pirtle of Atlanta, Ga., step-daughter Emily Pirtle of Manhattan, N.Y., brother Covert Eugene "Pete" Parnell III of Palm Springs, Calif., brother Polie M. Parnell of Palm Harbor, Fla., sister Mary "Burnsie" Mathis of Atlanta, and granddaughter Kiley Levinson of Atlanta, Ga.

Pallbearers were Bill Mathis, Billy Mathis, Billy Pirtle, Jason Parnell, Justin Parnell, Polie Parnell, Peter Parnell and Peter Defransa.

Funeral services were held at Thomasville United Methodist Church on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2007, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Philip Craddock presiding. Burial was in Choctaw Corner Cemetery in Thomasville.

Susie Mae Pugh

Susie Mae Pugh, age 70, of Grove Hill, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007, at her home. She was born on Sept. 10, 1936, in Campbell. She was a retired seamstress and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Melvin Pugh of Grove Hill, son Wayne Pugh of Chilton, brother, Thomas Dungan of Thomasville, brother, Ray Dungan of Mt. Vernon, three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Buster Hough, Greg Dungan, Mike Dungan, Roy Brunson, Kenneth Mott and Kenny Reeves.

Honorary Pallbearers are David and Charity Brunson and James Pope.

Funeral services were held at O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home on Friday, Feb. 9, 2007 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Darryl Brunson and Rev. Moody Day officiating. Burial was in the Smith Cemetery.

Ellen Preuit Kirven

Ellen Preuit Kirven, age 87, died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2007 at Marengo Nursing Home in Linden. She was born June 14, 1919, in Town Creek. She was a retired case worker for the Department of Human Resources.

She is survived by her son, Edward P. Kirven of Sewanee, Tenn., daugher Ellen Kirven Donald of Alexandria, Va., grandson Edward Kirven Jr. of Alexandria, Va., and grandson Gregg Kirven of Suwanee, Tenn.

Graveside funeral services were held at Linden Memorial Park on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. with Father Aaron Raulerson officiating.

Arthur "Pete" Milstead

Arthur "Pete" Milstead, age 79, of Sweet Water died Feb. 10, 2007 at Specialty Hospital of Meridian in Meridian, Miss.

He was born June 29, 1927, in Sweet Water. He was a retired maintenance engineer for Marengo County. He was a member of Beaver Creek Baptist Church.

He is survived by his son, Mike Milstead of Decatur, daughter Patricia Ballard of Dixons Mills, daughter Kerri Thompson of Paradise, Texas, brother Henry Milstead of Sweet Water, William "Mutt" Milstead of Sweet Water, sister, Modene Wood of Beaver Creek, sister Mary Angelo of Beaver Creek, sister Janie "Dink" Turley of Sweet Water, six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Clifford McClure, Billy Milstead, Harry Wood Jr., Chris Milstead, Brian Anderson, Brett Anderson, Dillon Anderson and Dallas Anderson.

Funeral services were held at Beaver Creek Baptist Church on Monday, Feb. 12, 2007, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Sidney Hill officiating. Burial was in Beaver Creek Cemetery in Sweet Water.

Allen Richard Campbell

Allen Richard Campbell, age 55, of Thomasville, died Feb. 10, 2007, at Southwest Alabama Medical Center in Thomasville. He was born October 24, 1951, in Selma. He worked as a drywall finisher. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

He is survived by his brothers, Roy Wallace Campbell of Putnam, Terry Dale Campbell of Putnam, sister Rebecca C. Barrett of Mobile, niece Katherine Emerson of Mobile, niece Leslie Kerner of Washington D.C., nephew Sidney Campbell of Putnam, and nephew Kyle Campbell of Grove Hill.

Pallbearers were Ira Brewer, Mike DeLoach, Dwight Parden, Ricky Parten, Glen Marsh, Aldolph Bruch, Randal Black, and Sam Pugh.

Honorary pallbearers were Paul Lynn, Greg Downey and Randy Fendley.

Funeral services were held at O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home Tueday, Feb. 13, 2007, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Danny Nelson officiating. Burial was in Forest Springs Cemetery in Morvin.
