Tree seedling giveaway in Pine Hill

The Wilcox County Treasure Forest Association Chapter and the Wilcox County Soil and Water Conservation District Committee and the Town of Pine Hill will celebrate the 135th anniversary of the founding of Arbor Day by J. Sterling Morton with a tree-give-away and tree planting to be held the last week of February. The tree seedling give-away will coincide with Arbor Day and Tree City, USA programs being held in Pine Hill.

Tree seedlings will be available to the general public in Pine Hill on Wednesday, February 28th at 11:00 a. m. at the Pine Hill Municipal Park walking tract. The Pine Hill Tree Commission will conduct a tree planting program at the park at 10:00 a. m. preceding the give away.

Seedling species being provided this year, subject to availability, are dogwood, crepe myrtle, red maple, Chickasaw plum, river birch, and vitex. The number of seedlings is very limited this year and will be given away on a first come, first served basis.

This year's seedling sponsors are the Wilcox County Soil and Water Conservation District Committee and the Wilcox County Chapter of the Alabama TREASURE Forest Association.

The Wilcox Co. Treasure Forest Chapter & sponsors invite everyone to help make Wilcox County's future more certain by performing a simple act - plant a tree.
