Tiger JV Defeats Wildcats

The Thomasville High School Junior Varsity baseball teams picked up an 8 -6 win over the Citronelle Wildcat Junior Varsity this past Monday, February 19 in the season opener for both teams. The game was the back half of a middle school/ junior varsity double header between the two programs.

In the game the Tigers jumped out to a 6-0 lead after two innings and increased it to 8-0 after four only to see the Wildcats battle back to make the final margin of victory for the Tigers two points.

On the mound Jay Williams picked up the win for Thomasville working four strong shutout innings in which he gave up two hits and one walk while striking out six. Dillon Rowell followed Williams to the mound and worked two innings allowing three runs on one hit, one walk and two hit batsmen while striking out two. In the final inning of the game Jo Jo Holden, Sam Wise and Sean Skelton each worked 1/3 inning in which the Wildcats scored three runs on one hit, two walks and one hit batsman.

Shaq Jackson and Sean Skelton led the Tigers at the plate recording two hits each while Rob Anderson, Paxton Duke and Jo Jo Holden added one apiece. Duke and Skelton were the RBI leaders for the Tigers in the game with two each followed by Holden with one. Jackson also led Thomasville in runs scored with three. Holden followed him with two while Anderson, Skelton and Sage Smoker added one each.

The Thomasville JV will be back in action on Tuesday, February 27, when they play host to the Washington County JV in a 4:00 PM contest that precedes a varsity game between the two schools.
