From the Editor's Desk
Having finished, I take a look at the little package. It "cleans without soap or water," the writing claims on the packaging. Just below it, in black and white, the ingredients list is soap and water. They threw fragrance in between them, probably to throw people off. I'm guessing there wasn't enough room on the little package to fully explain that these ingredients were actually "magic non-soap" and "magic non-water." I'm betting the lunch specials are free when you pay for them, too. Next time I go, I plan on not eating any pulled pork. I'll just have the pulled pork instead. New face, new voice You don't have to look hard to see my oft-mispronounced name or my made-for-radio face in this paper, but there are others without whom, this paper would not function. We welcomed a new member to our little crew here at The Thomasville Times last week. Christy Knight joins us as our new receptionist, typesetter, phone answerer, girl Friday, etc. Hey, it's a small operation and we all have to wear a lot of hats. She takes over for Sissy Agee who got fed up working with a bunch of crazy people and got closer to home working in Pine Hill. I can't vouch for whether or not she got away from all the crazy people, though. Christy's learning the ropes, and there's a lot of ropes to be learned, so be gentle when you call or come in. I would be remiss if I didn't mention the other members of our little crew here. If you didn't know Tonya Joyce worked here by now, I can only assume you're not from these parts and you're keeping a low profile. She sells the ads that for the companies that make life a little better for all of us, and they happen to pay the bills around here too. She also keeps me from making horrible mistakes most of the time. I can't tell you how many times I've tried to make Lewis Herron into Louis Herron. But you have to admit, he does look suspiciously French. Terri Lyles takes care of turning those ads into printed reality and handles our bookkeeping duties. Charlie Anderson covers our sports for us. One of these days I'm going to get around to asking him what his favorite sport is. It's so hard to tell. Amber Fuller contributes photos for us when her busy schedule allows, and THS student Ryan Johnson turns his lens to the Thomasville sports scene for us as well. Kim Sparks hits the road every week to deliver the papers to our news racks in three counties and get the papers in the mail They all do terrific work and I'd have to say the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. I'm blessed to work with such a fine group of people. And since I'm kissing up, I better not forget my bosses. They're just swell. There are others as well, our compatriots at the Clarke County Democrat, South Alabamian and Choctaw Advocate.
It's truly a team effort to bring you each new issue of The Thomasville Times.
