Lady Tigers playoff run ends in Troy to Ashford Their dreams of a run at a 4A State Championship ended for the Thomasville Lady Tiger Basketball team this past Wednesday, February 21, when they fell 74 -41 to the Ashford Lady Yellow Jackets in the regional tournament held on the campus of Troy State Universtiy. The Loss dropped the Lady Tigers' overall record to 20-4 and ended one of the best seasons in the history of Thomasville Lady Tiger Basketball. The story of the game had to be Thomasville's inability to hold onto the ball as they committed 37 turnovers. Actually the first two quarters were pretty close with Thomasville trailing by only three at the break. It didn't last however as the Lady Jackets pulled away in the final two quarters.
Dominic Watters was the high scorer for Thomasville in the loss with 12 points. Keenya Martin was next with nine points followed by Ebony Early and Sondra Lanier with six points each. Rounding out the scoring was Ashley Crawford and Tamara Robinson with three points apiece and Nicole Washington and Twarner Witherspoon with one point each. On the boards Early was the leader with eight rebounds followed by Martin with seven. Washington was the assist leader in the game with two and over on defense Early took charge with four blocked shots and two steals.
